Do you have a special section dedicated to penguin-related games?

He probably has a file cabinet filled with random, abstract, Wikipedia-esque lists. In this case, "List of video games with penguin characters".

Trailer.

Just looks like another mini game collection with a slightly different control method. Still, that's a pretty catchy tune at least.

Anyone who wants to whine and cry that it's not any type of hardcore game is a massive baby. Regardless of whether this is actually going to turn out well or not yet, you can't fault them for trying a completely unique control scheme that works!

Unless you'd rather Naka was still at Sonic team pumping out the next "great" game than trying something new.

This isn't about the game not being "hardcore" or anything- this is about it being a game that penguins can play.

Who wants to bet you can get the game to beat itself by placing the Wiimote face-down on a washing machine?

That's just to promote the fact you don't need to hold the controller to play it, so don't actually need fingers. It doesn't mean that there's no gameplay whatsoever (though I'm sure some of the challenges/modes do have next to none, like whatever that painting thing is).

I'm not overwhelmingly positive about the game or anything yet but I find it completely ridiculous that there's a ton of nerds out there who're alarmingly negative about it simply because it's simple and involves minigames. Yes you can be all "Hurr it's the Wii and minigames, why wouldn't someone be negative?" but I prefer to judge any game on its own merits. So far all this has really shown me is a truly original control scheme which gives it potential, so no reason to be down on it at all.

The main reason for this rant by the way was when I watched a gametrailers video earlier it had been rated down to like 5.0/10 and had a ton of whiny complaining posts about the concept.

James...

... Oh God, what's wrong with the world?!
Even Artoon tried with a proper game.
Please.

But I do dig the BGM so much.

The concept looks and sounds stupid as hell.

3 years in the making, and PROPE dashes out of the gate with a successor to the prolific Imagine series, geared towards the mentally retarded. Yuji Naka, you golden god.

Looking at the Let's Tap video again, I kind of start to think Prope made that control scheme that for the Donkey Konga bongos but kind of forgot to release it during the Gamecube era.

Not even I have anything to say about Let's Catch though.

I don't understand how it works.

The game.

Not women with washing machines.

I'm pretty sure it works like the DK Bongos as Ritz was saying. Like the remote senses a small shake from the either side and interprets a "left" or "right" movement for running, or in the case of the ball game it interprets how hard the hit on the table/box was. Not sure about the calligraphy thing though.

Honestly, I think it has the makings of an addictive little game(with extremely catchy music!) if done right, I'm just surprised that it's not Wiiware. Apparently Prope thinks that that can make it a full price retail experience so... we'll see I guess.

And there's not a lot there to show it, but Let's Catch could be fun. Really! Not in an epic way, but certainly enough for a Wiiware title. It looks like they'll use the accelerometer to make sort of a simple rhythmic catching game... I assume it'll go faster and slow down accordingly and you try to get as high a score as possible(and maybe you could pitch it low or high as well). Also looks like they're throwing in more surreal game-ish things like Bombs and UFOs for other modes.

I'm not saying these games won't suck, just that I can see how they have a chance of not sucking. I want new character based games too, but if they can use good design to make these games fun I'll probably give them a shot.

Talking about the Artoon analogy... I'd rather see simple concepts executed well rather than complex ones executed awkwardly.
