Oh my gosh. I've waited 11 years to see Runaway Brain. Thank God for the internets.

...man, did anyone else think that Mickey was just an irresponsible dickweed in that short? He needs to show Minnie some mo' Goddamn lovin', baby.

Those new screenshots are looking pretty sweet, but the world art is really letting it down:

Before: http://uk.media.xbox360.ign.com/media/7 ... 57528.html

After: http://uk.media.xbox360.ign.com/media/7 ... 48683.html

What the hell happened? The game actually looks worse than when they started.

I'm going to ask on the off-chance that Classy Bloke reads this thread. Are these all the graphical effects they're going to use? Because with some specular, fog, anit-aliasing, and ambient occlusion (all cheap, nothing next-gen), the "after" picture could look amazing. At the moment, it just looks unlit.

The Before image was a preliminary shot. All video games look better in those shots than they do in the final version. Remember the PlayStation Final Fantasy games?

Well, it definitely needs anti-aliasing, that's for sure.

Hopefully, the PC version supports that; no reason for it NOT to.

I've been getting a MYST vibe from these graphics for a while now, and those gear shaped towers bring it out even more.

How can you compare these shots exactly? They're not even remotely similar. I mean if you're talking about the grass textures and what not I mean obviously they're going to look a lot better in a massively zoomed out shot showing the whole area than up close. I don't get your "world art" complaint at all.

I reckon most of these graphics complains are pretty nitpicky. When you actually see this game in action, as i have, you'll discover a framerate i've never seen before. It's higher than the E3 demo for sure. There are a lot of objects, particles and effects flying about too. So while the main graphics are nothing special, there's a lot going on.

And what about the music? Any less bland than the music in the E3 demo?

No, but given that the framerate's apparently shot up a bit, it sounds like they've been tightening the graphics.

Good job, Blue Shirt Guy and Fabulous Hair Guy. And to think, your mom said you'd never get ANYWHERE with these games.

Good to see Sonic team have their priorities right as usual. I have a feeling they've just given up on ever nailing perfect 3d Sonic control and camera because they're clearly lacking entirely in the ability to actually get it correct.

Then why are you so hopeful in a game where the single most important thing (the camera) will never be done right?

My mistake. I was comparing the art-style/graphical effects rather than the content, but I did use the wrong "after" picture.

But the point I was making was that just about anything from the TGS/E3-2005 demo looks absolutely amazing, and all the new screenshots look a bit crap. I mean seriously, look at this:

Image

Even Sonic Heroes could do lighting!

Or this one...

Take the high-res Shadow out of the shot and it might as well be from Shadow the Hedgehog on PS2.

In all fairness, you can't really develop the gameplay when the graphics are causing the game to run at 5 frames per second.

Hey OCB, I was just wondering, do you know what sort of moves Sonic can buy in this game? I read that characters can buy abilities with rings and am a bit curious what you can get.

I'm surprised nobody asked this:

OCB, can you tell us if Silver is the son of an already existing character we know? (Sonic, Shadow...)

I think thats because we don't want to know. Just in case Silver is. Leave OCB alone! He is a human being not some servant to you for some random information.

So is Fang in it then?

Interestingly, i can answer ever question on this page with yes.

Gameplay is an alright improvement. It's a bit hard to tell for sure right now as the game is buggy as fuck at present. But it does seem to be proving better than most recent games.

Music is all instrumental, unless "erh" counts as a lyric. As for the style, it's a bit hard to tell, but it seems more upbeat than ShtH

Camera still seems fucked. Might get improved though.

Sonic has several purchasable ablities that can be assigned to the r trigger.

Silver is someone's son.

There is no Fang.

Purchasable abilities? Sounds not so hot.
