Sonic Café games come to the US

Post by big_smile »

Sega of America plan to capitalise on the increasing ubiquity of next-gen mobile phones by releasing four Sonic titles from the previously Japanese-only Sonic Café service.

Sonic Jump was originally released in 2005 and is some-what notable for being the first Café game to have a fully-developed story mode (previous titles simply used story frames that lacked a conclusion). Sonic must navigate trampoline-style floating platforms to defeat Eggman’s aerial creations.

Sonic Backgammon, Sonic Hearts and Sonic Darts are, as their names imply, Sonic-themed versions of classic past times.

Other non-Sonic games from the Café service are also scheduled to be released including Chu Chu Rocket, Pengo and Flicky.

Pictures and movies for all titles can be found here.

Okay, am I losing my memory, or does that image look uncannily like the model one of Esrever's many girlfriends or someone made and posted pictures of back on Hotboards?

WTF? That is from Claire's model! It's an older photo that we don't have on the site anymore, but there's no mistaking it.

I guess I'd better email them. Jesus! Thanks for pointing that out, man.

You know what I'd really like? All the Sonic Cafe' games given touch screen compatibility and put on the DS. I would actually enjoy that.

Is Sonic Jump out yet? The site doesn't list any carriers, and I was under the impression that it wasn't gonna come out for another six months.

<strike>Eh? The carriers are listed at the top of the page: Verizon, Cingular, T-Mobile, Sprint, Telestra, and Bell Mobility.</strike> Oh, I see what you mean.

Hooray, now I'll have more than just Sonic 1 on my phone.

Sega Copyright Infringement, this is interesting... will they even acknowledge your communication without a cease-and-desist letter, though, Esrever?

Wasn't there some blatant plagiarism of GHZ pages on the Sega site a while back? On the earlier incarnation of the Sega.com Sonic site, maybe?

I notice they have changed it, even though they do not seem to be replying to my email. :/

It's art from the old Japanese Flicky arcade flyer now.

Sucks that they didn't even have the balls to reply to Esrever's email.

It was time, since the virus for Cell phones came years ago.

And i wont be surprised if some of those games get more love than new Sonic games for Consoles.
