World Hobby Fair - Makuhari Messe Report and Pictures

Post by big_smile »

The 2004 World Hobby Fair was Sega’s quietest with only four titles on show, three of which are from Sonic Team. Still, that didn’t prevent Sega Japan from producing this picture packed reporton the fair that was held in Makuhari Messe.

Image
^The Sonic Balloon returned

Image Image
^With no exciting games to draw the crowds to its booth, Sega had to rely on other methods. A special tournament was held where lucky visitors, picked at random, could compete to win a special goody

Image Image
^ Visitors sang happy birthday to Sonic (Well, a man dressed up as Sonic).

^ A Chao watching TV in a TV (bottom left)

Image
^ Puyo Pop Fever was a popular attraction

Image
^ Could this be the return of Sega Pico?

Image
^Sonic makes the peace sign while Shadow makes his own unique gesture.

On the 27th of June the fair will be at the Sapporo dome in Hokkaido*.

Be careful. A lot of Japanese kids have giant robots or crazy-ass superpowers. Or crazy-ass superpowers that create giant robots.

I thought Sonic Team was absorbed at the merger? Or hasn't it occured yet?

Anyway, those hats look OK. Not exactly the most fashionable things I've ever seen, but I'd wear them if my life depended on it.

The great Sega absorbsion is supposedly to take place this October.

Those hats are cute, but they are probably too small for most of our heads.

Even after they're absorbed, I'm betting they'll still be their own department and stuff.

True, but my dong's about the thickness of an average Japanese child's head, so I'd have a use for it anyway.

So Gibbon, you get a lot of opportunities to compare the size of your dong to the size of a japanese child's head?

Hmm, Is it me, or has anyone else noticed GG! randomly changing back and forth between male and female?
It's just me, isn't it?

So are my Sonic pajamas, but that didn't stop me from at least trying.

I have a small Mega Man T-shirt that I tried desperately to wear on two occasions. I have one that fits, now, but it was a gift and it looks like the kind they sell at Hot Topic, so I have some ethical problems with wearing it in public.

I have a super-sexy SEGA logo t-shirt that I got off eBay from a former Sega employee. I'll take a picture and post it sometime later. It's my favorite shirt ever, so I don't wear it too often.

Oh yeah? Well...I have a plastic bag with the SEGA logo on it, heh.
But seriously, I do have a bag like that, but even better, I've got a cool pen straight from the SEGA offices in Japan.

I got a cool Legend of Zelda shirt for reserving Halo 2 of all things. It has a sprite of Link on it and says 'Sword Play'. Pretty cool, it is now ranked as one of my favorite shirts so I will wear it a lot unlike Sega. I've only worn it once so far though cause I haven't done laundry in a week or two.
