This bothered me slightly as well, but watching some footage, it seems like there's a good deal of slower sections in Rush with more thought put into them than just running to the right, at least more so than in the Advance games. Apparently in some stages you're stopped at points and forced to fight a barrage of robots, Heroes style, before you can progress. While making comparisons to Heroes doesn't exactly seem like a good thing, at the very least it's something to break up doing nothing but running to the right. This is just one example though of an event that breaks things up a bit.Esrever wrote:Gamespy's preview also suggests that the level design, as in Sonic Advance, is much more "racing" focused with very little traditional platforming. That doesn't really sound very good to me.
Regardless of what I just typed though, I have to admit the overall look of this game does still seem pretty Advance-ish, regardless of how the press is looking at it, but I'm being optimistic that the improved visuals, sound, viewing area, boss fights and all the other additions to the game will make this at the very least, a good deal more satisfying than the Advance series.
