Gems Shorts: Sega Direct Promotions • STF Team Battle mode

Post by big_smile »

Direct Gems
:FJ: Sega Direct Gems Collection promotions

Sega Direct have two promotions to celebrate the launch of Sonic Gems Collection. The first is a free yo-yo that will be given with all pre-orders for the game. The gift is somewhat disappointing, as it is similar to the item that was given with pre-orders for Sonic Mega Collection Plus. Slightly more interesting is the limited edition Sonic T-shirt that can either be bought separately or in a special gift pack that also contains a copy of Gems Collection. Sega Direct are describing the T-Shirt as a rare item and so have not released any pictures of its exclusive design.

The Sega Direct Sonic Gems Collection page can be here. The page also contains comments from someone Amikai mistranslates as the ‘brook producer’.

Team Fighters
:FUS: Team battle mode confirmed for ‘Fighters port

According to SoA’s recently updated Sonic Gems Collection page, the Sonic the Fighters port will include a team-battle mode. This wasn’t in the original arcade release and so must be one of the enhancements that are exclusive to the forthcoming anthology.

It says his name is Fang. Noooooo...

NACK4EVA.

Even Nack "Fang" The Sniper Weasel would suffice :P

I'd rather Fang than Nackfangthesniperweasel. It sounds like a village in Wales.

Yes. That is the only village in Wales.

I'd rather see Nack be his nickname. I like Fang more. And team battle would be pretty cool. Has there ever been a Sonic game with Four Player multiplayer? Sounds good to me.

I'm wondering if "Team Battle" means that crummy mode where you choose a handful of characters and then fight in sequence?

God forbid they use the character's original name rather than one some localisation tools gave him.

I would imagine so, Virtua Fighter 2 on Saturn had a "Team Battle" mode that worked that way.

Four player modes have appeared in spin-off Sonic games, such as the GBA series and the PC version of Sonic R. ^_^

That mouth looks hideous in Metal Sonic.

That looks like a metallic sheen to me, not a mouth.

I hate this "smokin' hot soundtrack" comment on Sonic CD's bit. It indicates that it will be a) only one soundtrack and b) that it's the US one. I can see them describing that one as "smoking", for some reason.

Both soundtracks are good. Of course, we should really be getting both...

Sonic Boom is better than Toot Toot, mind you.

I just want to see the game as originally intended and presented. I wouldn't buy a DVD of a foreign film if it had an altered soundtrack.
