I deeply prefer the Samba de Amigo commercials. They looked like a Monty Phyton movie.

"We're making a commercial for a collection of games from about a decade ago. Our goal is to inspire nostalgia in the people who have played them and curiosity in the people who became fans later in the series. One of the most popular titles in the selection is a beautiful sprite-based side-scrolling adventure that for many people represents the pinnacle of the 2D era."

"Right, then. Okay, let's focus on the blocky racing and fighting games. 3D sells!"

They probably didn't speak English in that conversation.

That's the best laugh this forum has given me in weeks, possibly months. Kudos.

They show Streets of Rage and in the site all hidden games are revealed!

Why? werent they supposed to be HIDDEN GAMES?

There's an interview with Yojiro Ogawa about Sonic Gems Collection on GameSpy.

Mostly seems like bollocks to me. He claims each terrortory only has 1 Sonic CD soundtrack due to "space issues"(hmm, that sounds familiar) and also mentions including Knuckles Chatotix and SegaSonic in a future collection if Gems sells well. Seems all those "Sonic Ultra Collection" theories were right.

Past titles always help to stimulate new Sonic projects.

I don't suppose there's any mention of the Streets of Rage ports surviving the PAL transition, is there? I can't be bothered to read the thread and see if this has been answered already and instead demand to be told as I require it with no effort on my part.

I want to know how much of a bother it is to import and to get imports running.

There's been no word on the PAL version whatsoever.

Ifthis sourceis to be believed SoR isn't in the PAL version. However, they just seem to be making assumptions based on the US version.

The question is: when is the official release date?

Japan: August 11th, 2005.
North America: August 16th, 2005.
Europe: Data Unknown.

I've also spotted a new video of the collection at SOA's official site. It shows all the games in action and it even has a cleaner version of the Sonic CD cut-scenes. I'm guessing the BGM of the video will be the song's title screen music.

I just played a copy that my friend got and i must say that it isnt worth the $29.99 here is why
-half the games besides sonic cd are shit
-the ''improvements'' made in sonic R are hardly visible
-the unlockables are lackluster compared to sonic jam
i only suggest this if you MUST have sonic cd otherwise stay away

What about the museum? The remixed music they promised? Are there any movies?

The remixed music is there but it's hard to pick what sonic titles they are from unless you listen really really closely

Sega Europe have added some new screenshots of Gems Collection to their site. The reason I'm mentioning it is because they've now added the title screens of the 2 Vectorman games but there's still no sign of Streets of Rage. I guess it's still too early to rule it out for sure but this certainly isn't a good sign.

How did your friend get a copy of Sonic Gems Collection when it hasn't come out yet?
