What is the source of these rumors?
Also, didn't S3&K have an extra boss if you had the emeralds?

Eggman should definitely be the end boss, but hopefully his machine will be something more inspired than another giant Eggman-shaped robot.

Yeah, so we'll talk again when the source of the latest so-called "news" isn't only a dubious ghetto of the internet.

Yet it's a little unsettling that Sega doesn't seem all that interested in doing something to straighten out some of this hype spinning out of control.

I like to think that Sega, or at least SoA, is so disgruntled that it loves seeing its loyalest of customers make complete asses out of themselves.

So, a HD remake of Sonic 1, in a game that looks 3D but plays like 2D. I hope they make a Wii version...

I just hope it comes for PC, no voices, and Robotnik as the main villain (at least I hope they don't call him Eggman...)

One upon a time a Japanese dude called Naoto Oshima who worked for SEGA of Japan drew a Blue Hedgehog and called him Sonic and fat guy in red and called him Dr.Eggman then some person who was probably a worker in Sega of America or UK decided to call the fat guy Robotnik probably because he hated the Dr.Eggman name or thought it would cause a "beatles" lawsuit, much like the name changes in Capcom.

Later SEGA of Japan had revenge when they introduced his original Japanese creation name in Sonic Adventure 1.

THE END.

I used to call him "Mostachón" (big moustache), that's how they re-christened him in AoStH down here.

... Didn't we have this discussion before?

You mean like a nickname, instead of "Robuttnik"?

Excluding that website back there, we (generally) don't give a damn either way. Such a frightening concept I know.

No, they really called him that in the show's dub, always. BTW, I first learned about Sonic from that cartoon, he was called "Sonic el veloz" (Sonic the fast/speedy, maybe they didn't want kids to know just what the hell animal he was). I think they were called the same in SatAM's dub, can't remember much 'bout that one.

In Sonic X's dub he's just "Doctor Huevo" (Dr. Egg, no "-man" at the end), and Sonic's species is acknowledged.

I know. I just hope, that's all.
Not that I have a problem with people calling him Eggman. I just prefer Robotnik.
Everybody has it's tastes.

Fascinating. Are any of these name changes present in the games (or manuals) in your region as well, or just the cartoons?

I've found that I now use both Dr. Eggman and Dr. Robotnik completely interchangeably without thinking about it, but I think now I'm just going to call him Dr. Huevos every time.

Also, every other forum sucks.
Why don't we just let everyone edit everyone else's posts for an unlimited amount of time? We can all be the puppets and all be the puppet masters, the ultimate forum utopia!

↑ I'm totally cool with this.

Just the cartoons, the games are all the US versions, even though the nationally adopted TV standard is Europe's PAL (same goes for DVD players, they're all NTSC here).

And yeah, "Dr. Huevo" also sounds very suggestive here... actually I'm left on the brink of (laughing) tears whenever I run into it.
