I love this one, more for the sentiment than the art.

Another idiot who thinks Tails' ringcount is actually relevant when he only gets rings Sonic misssed. Fantastic.
At least it is not a picture of Shadow crying.

Ditto. It sort of reminds me of something you would find in the "I am 8-bit" exhibition.Radrappy wrote:even before I clicked it I knew which one you were talking about. I really like it too.G.Silver wrote:I am a little sad that this one wasn't selected.

No, man. We all love seeing that fox getting a live mine in the face. It's the same type of thrill you get when he drowns, gets pierced with spikes or is squashed like a pancake. I think we all derived some sort of perverse pleasure when CPU Tails died in the old games, only to materialize shortly afterwards. Just like Kenny!Kogen wrote:

For the record, though, it always pissed me off when Tails lost rings in the Sonic 2 Special Stages, no matter how few he was carrying.

Make that two, then!
Although I do admit I liked when Tails died, then came back with a moon walking animation instead of a flying one.

Apparently you've never played with a friend. Shocker!Kogen wrote:Another idiot who thinks Tails' ringcount is actually relevant when he only gets rings Sonic misssed. Fantastic.
But even alone, I've had problems with Tails getting in front of me and getting the rings that were about to come to me naturally, since it happens, you know, every time you jump.

My friends do not have autism, we were able to do it!
Otherwise, I never really cared for the emeralds, all they do is give you unrequired special powers half way through the game or later that kill any fun the game had. It also bugs at the end of the level if you press jump, ruining everything.

I'm not the only one that found S2's Super Sonic far more unwieldy than S3&K's, am I? Also, what's up with S3(sans K)'s slowing down to a hault when rolling even down hill?

Re: Sonic and the Quest for Phallic Compensation
Gah, don't get me started on Sonic 2 Super Sonic. For some reason, the "jump in the air and don't come down" glitch always happened after the end of Hill Top Zone Act 1 for me. Though I do like how you can collect all the emeralds by the end of Emerald Hill.
That, and Sonic 2 is the only game in the main series in which the ending isn't affected if you bother to get all the emeralds. The Special Stages were a blast and Super Sonic was fun (if sometimes incredibly frustrating), but other than that, the emeralds were completely useless.Kogen wrote:

I like the cencept, but not how it turned out. They planned it to be for co-op and that is what it is. On single player it is not fun at all.
The ending also does change, just minorly. Plus it directly goes to Sonic 3/K.

Re: Sonic and the Quest for Phallic Compensation
That will happen in every stage if you jump around at the end! It all depends on how far to the right you are if it's going to lock up your game, but the safe bet is just don't jump once you pass the sign if you have over 50 rings. I've heard some later "printings" of the game don't have this problem.Wombatwarlord777 wrote:Gah, don't get me started on Sonic 2 Super Sonic. Lovely environments, technically and conceptually.
It's a shame it has to be in a game where Sonic has a sword, etc etc

I watched it three times for the hilariously lame, nigh unintelligible theme song.

Re: Sonic and the Quest for Phallic Compensation
My thoughts exactly. I can't being how many enemies are constantly encroaching Sonic and co. this go about. It makes it hard to believe the designers crafted this game so that combat wouldn't slow you down.j-man

It may be pointless to spectulate, but do you suppose Shadow, Knuckles, and Blaze have unique moves (i.e. some sort of gliding for Knux, maybe an axel jump for Blaze, ect.)?

I think it looks decent, myself.
Well, it looks to me like all the difference is combat styles. It may be pointless to spectulate, but do you suppose Shadow, Knuckles, and Blaze have unique moves (i.e. some sort of gliding for Knux, maybe an axel jump for Blaze, ect.)?

As long as we're referencing JSRF, I always liked Cibo Matto's "Birthday Cake", personally.

Well, yeah, the actual lines are something about "too bad no bon appetit", "you know my love is sweet", "extra sugar, extra salt, extra oil and the MSGs"... but, well, when I first heard it, that's basically what it sounded like.
Besides, don't you want your eggs on sugar and salt?

Re: Sonic and the Quest for Phallic Compensation
Well, I came here to indulge in the expected snark, but I guess you haven't heard the news. The IGN (3.9) and Famitsu (26/40) reviews both hand this game the worst score they've ever given Sonic. With the 8 from Nintendo Power, so far that's two out of three. Truly the Sonic franchise continues to set new standards.
