Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
It's supposed to be a joke answer. Other games do it all the time. Like how a character asks you to save the world and you pick "No." They'll keep asking until you say yes.

Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
Yeah, I figured as much. I knew about games doing that, but if they're going to do that joke, why don't they just do this:
Want to save the world? Yes/No
<No.>
*Main character leaves/goes back to sleep/whatever.*
*Game Over*
*Title Screen*
It can't be that hard to program, and it's kind of funny. (Maybe the first time, anyway.)

Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
The latest Paper Mario did that too. You had to be adamant about it, but that's exactly what happened.
Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
I think Gibbon went on about one of the later Suikoden titles a while back and how you could just choose to stop at an island and never continue your journey. I always through that was pretty cool.
Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
If we're listing games that choose to let you choose to end them, Baten Kaitos Origins has a scene like that wherein the main character basically asks if you (the guardian spirit) want to go with him, or if he should come with you. If you tell him to come with you, cue some dialog, an iris out-ish fade to black, and a game over screen. It DOES offer to let you save first, though. ;P
Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
In Rayman 2, once you reach the end of the Cave of Bad Dreams, you enter a room loaded with treasure, and it's guardian offers to hand it over to you; if you accept, you and the treasure are immediately teleported to one of those cliche little tropical islands. Rayman is now far too obese to move, and "The End" appears on the screen before you're graciously teleported back to the point where the decision was made. It was pretty morbid.

I hate it when games do that kind of thing. What's the point of giving the player multiple choice answers if only one of them does anything?
Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
Agreed. As for a Nonstandard Game Over, I'd like to see more of those.Crazy Penguin wrote:I hate it when games do that kind of thing. What's the point of giving the player multiple choice answers if only one of them does anything?
Wait... what if this game has multiple endings? I mean other than the "Super Sonic" ending cliché.

Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
I love non-linear games with multiple outcomes, but they sure are a bitch to create sequels for without falling into the trap of there being one "true" ending.

Most of those sound just as imaginative as "Shade" and "The Dark Brotherhood"... I guess I'll vote for Darknood, simply because it's the name that sounds the least familiar.Ngangbius wrote:So you folks can now vote for the name of the villians here and it shows a picture of what one of these beings look like:

Also, Sonic Wrecks and TSS? Someone needs to show that editor some real Sonic sites. (But then I shouldn't complain since said editor sent me a free Sonic t-shirt, thanks.)

I don't really care for "Darknood." It reminds me of "Snood" or "noodle" - not exactly menacing. I went with Zoah.

HA! I KNEW Sonic Wrecks had something to do with it. This girl who's supposedly a big supporter of SW posted a thread about it in the part of my site that's normally reserved for general site updates.
Of course, she IMMEDIATELY threw a shitstorm upon me moving it to the Sonic forum where Sonic-based discussion is supposed to go, so now I could care less about some stupid name.

Isn't "Gravitus" a planet from Meteos?
I think I voted for it regardless. I sure hope "Darknood" was a joke entry.

I vote Zoah even though I didn't vote.

Why should we vote for Zoah? Did someone from here suggested than name to Sega/Bioware or something?

- This is the freak eh? Is it the name for the whole race of different looking creatures like Shade or only for this species of hulking monster?

I want to vote Psykore if they can promise that the emphasis on the first syllable will be brief. i.e., like the word "psycho" as opposed to "Psyduck".
(I'm aware this is a text-based game. Humor me.)
However, the link produces a different error each day I try it, so I'm just gonna cast that wish off into the abyss and not do anything about it.
