Haunted graphics program
A couple days ago I loaded up Painter Classic to do some drawing, as always. It loaded up fine, but the second I tried to draw - either with the tablet or the mouse - the program shut down. I tried it a few times, and resetting the system didn't work, so I reinstalled the program and it seemed to solve the problem.
Until the next day. Then the same thing happened, so I reinstalled the program and it worked again. Until the next day, which would be today. I'm very curious to know what might be causing this peculiar malady, that seems to occur after ever 24-hour period. Other similar programs, such as Painter 8 and Photoshop, are working fine. Painter Classic is my primary drawing tool, and I would rather once again have the convenience of not having to reinstall it every single day.
So whad up wit dat?

Sell it on eBay.
But seriously, when you re-install something, it's settings may still be there from the last time you had it installed. Try deleting the program's whole directory under the Program Files folder (after you uninstall it), and anywhere else you can think of leftovers from the program may be. If you know how to use the registry, check there too.
There's also the very unlikely chance that there's some kinda bad program running like a virus or sumthin.

Are you using XP? Have you tried System Restore?
And then there's these sites you could use if you want to check for viruses just in case:

Okay, so how about this one.
The virus that kept messing with my graphics program was this thing called Parite. It started happening again a couple days ago, but Spam had to download some special program to completely eliminate it. Now that's taken care of, but it caused another problem, which I assume is related since it didn't begin until Parite was gone: my computer won't connect to the LAN. (At the moment I'm using my laptop.) Apparently it keeps automatically designating itself a particular IP address, 169 something. Spam's been messing with it all afternoon and can't get it to function properly. Even reinstalling Windows didn't work, and he's out of ideas except to reformat the whole drive, which he's not even sure will solve the problem. Of course, I just reformatted barely a month ago, and I'd hate to have to go through all that crap again if I'm not guaranteed results, especially considering I'm already a couple weeks behind on some business I'm trying to take care of, and every delay puts me further into the red zone.
So... any ideas?

Have you checked your Win.ini file to see if there are any network viruses being executed from the mci extensions, Gibbon? I've hear it’s a fairly simple way to check; you just have to look for a line resembling "run= C:\Windows\(filename).exe" or something like that.
If you have tried it along with reconfiguring your network settings and reinstalled your drivers, it will either come down to you spending some time and possibly money on a good anti-virus program (which I will again assume you have already tried), or the reformat. Just burn all of your important information (assumedly your nekkid booby pics) onto CD's or something if you have to resort to the latter; it's not that bad to endure.
