Returning to the old Rocket Knight topic...

I think the main difference between Rocket Knight Adventures and Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2 is that, on the second one, the rocket charges by itself, and faster, thus giving you much more liberty to rocket away and reach much higher.... uh... heights.

The first one is great, and indeed has a "classic" feeling, while the second one has all that "sequel" feeling. You have more of this, more of that, new moves, vehicles, fire sword, etc. Both games are great.

I never played the SNES one... I thought it was a Sega exclusive.

I guess the sequel could be in 3D, since Konami has proven able to transform its old good 2D games in new good 3D games, as in Metal Gear Solid and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Actually, the 2D TMNT is much better. So bleh.

The Sparkster legacy should remain a side-scroller, just like every Mega-Drive saga. You know how Sonic ended up in 3D? Yeah, that's why.
On another note, I'm making a Sparkster site titled Rocket Knight Tavern, and I'm getting it hosted by Sepwich. However, the site is yet to recieve my request. I'll just keep working on it 'til later time.

This is bizarre.

Funny. The SNES Sparkster sprite is kind of a mix between the one from RKA1 and the Mega Drive Sparkster.

Actually, is the Mega Drive Sparkster named Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2? Or is it only Sparkster?

Sparkster on the Genesis has to have one of the worst title screens ever.

That's not the title screen. That screen serves as a cinema after defeating Axle Gear in the beginning battle and retriving the first sword.

I was just demonstrating the presence of the "Rocketknight Adventures 2" subtitle. Here's the actual title screen.

It's possible to win the first battle!?

Yep, in fact you must win if you want the first sword of seven (aka chaos emeralds) so you can obtain the legendary armor (aka go super sparkster) and get the good ending.

I heard of that, very suspicious. Was the Konami code present in all three games?

Only in the SNES version I believe, and then it only unlocked the Crazy Hard Mode so it's not much of a cheat.

Up to and including Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic has had somewhere between two and four shitty 3D games. I can't count the number of shitty 2D Sonic games on my fingers and toes.

Interestingly enough, the prescence of Sparkster caused another videogame to change its name. That videogame was Pulseman, originally called "Spark". It was actually made by the creators of Pokemon before Pokemon. It played like a mix between Megaman and Sonic - fairly well, too.

And yes, shitty games can be made in 3D or 2D. Only an idiot would think that the quality of a game in either has to adhere to a set of rules.

Was that actually the reason they changed his name? I figured they had just changed it during development, Pulseman is a much better sounding name in my opinion... "Water can destrooooy Pulseman! Ha ha ha ha!" just wouldn't be the same with a different name! xD

Let's also remember Bubsy that was a pretty decent MD game but the PS sequel came out crap. If you want to play as Sparkster/ Dynamite Heady/ Ristar then play the original as they are works of gaming art to be enjoyed so get an emulation or the actual game.
Also I know that in certain cases like Sonic CD cannot be ported (or so speculation may say) but all I can say to that is "Tough Shit, life's not always fair".
If it comes down to it then your right my dear Machenstain, we can only dream, speculate and hope what a sequel may be like.
Sonic CD can be ported, because there is a PC version^^. Just get the PC version and the patch for XP.

I remember craving Sparkster like a maniac as a young child. I loved the first RKA and desired the sequel more than anything in the world. I had a friend who said he had it, so I went round to his house but then he "couldn't find it".

I fucking hated being a kid. :(
