This is great, it captures the essence and design of the original sonic perfectly.

Wait a sec, doesn't Amy actually live on the Miracle Star? You meet her at the end of the first Zone.

Nope, she is on Little Planet because she had read in her tarot cards that she would have a destined encounter with Sonic there. At least that's what she says :P

Okay, question and answer time:
Nova wrote:[alot of nonsensical stuff about STC]
Dude, firstly, I have every single STC in HARD COPY. I do not need your scan treasuery. Secondly, STC isn't Segasonic, so I'm not borrowing any rubbish from the Sonic Terminator storyline, and those animals come from the games, not the "yearbook" (which one of those do you MEAN anyway?).

And to top it off, I find STC to be incredibly overrated anyway, so ;p.
Nova wrote:And 10 pages? I quoted your post to see if any image wasn’t showing. But I only saw 8 links.
The first two images are double spreads. So, if this were ever published (lol), they'd be laid out over two pages.
CE wrote:All the drawings of the Little Planet look very... flat. Is that intentional? Because nothing else looks so flat.
Yeah, that's just me not being very good at drawing planets. You'll also note that it's never a perfect circle either. Sammybeany (a lurker here) tried forcing me to use a compass, but I've defied his will. Maybe now that it's public, I'll start using one.
WhoopA wrote:What card is that in Amy's hand - The Lovers? Sure would make sense.
It's actually one I made up. I tried researching Tarot Cards on the interweb, but I saw there are loads of different sets and went "ahaahah no", and just decided to make my own up.

As you can see, it's a sun. But not just any sun, it's hugely obscure fan reference sun. Namely, the "Angry Sun" from the Sonic & Knuckles Japanese box, that will laugh at you if you don't keep up. Or something. I stuck it in, because it mentions Sonic running under it... thus, the connection there... yeah.

Anyone who wants to brief me on REAL tarot cards, please feel free.
big_smile wrote:Excellent work Koosh Koosh! I can't wait for the next issue. ^_^
Just to point out that this is only part one of the first issue. I'm hoping to do another 12 pages (which should be the material in my next update) and then move on to the next. Aside from that, I haven't tied myself down to a total end page number, merely because it'll make me lazy.

So, yes. Excellent. Glad everyone liked it.

Yeah, that's just what I said. In the game, she lives on the Little Planet. But in Koosh's comic/manga, she's on Sonic's planet!

So how long will it take for the next update?

She doesn't live on the Little Planet in the game. She just goes there to pester Sonic.

And about 3 weeks.

I love how Metal is cast in shadow in broad daylight simply for the sake of drama.

Yeah, the whole Metal Sonic shadows thing is a bit gay, but it was either make it realistic or give up the drama.

Or draw it better, I don't know.

Ahh, I see. I never read the Japanese story in detail, so thanks for clearing that up.

Well, “Miracle planetâ€￾ sounds a lot better that “Little planetâ€￾ and both are official names. But I want to get my hands in a translation of the Japanese sonic CD manual to be sure.

And about the yearbook, I’m talking about the Two European ones. You can get scans of them in the STC archive.

This Angry Sun intrigues me. Is there a scan about somewhere?

This may explain the boss in the Labyrinth zone as he generates his own gravity so the water follows.

As for the yearbooks I have both so if you tell me what you need scanned I'll try and get it for you.

Nova: Yes, I know, I know, I have them. Stop trying to plug that site in my fucking thread.

CP: I don't have a scan on me, but I do have a transcript. Let me paste for yous.

"SONIC RACES THROUGH GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF THE HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE
SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON'T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON'T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU."

I know it doesn't mention the sun being angry, and that's probably me mixing it up with the sun in Super Mario Brothers 3, but I made it all frowny and stuff, so it's been dubbed that.

Sonic CD
From the: Sonic CD Japanese Game Manual
Translation by: Koji Chao

A small and beautiful star, Little Planet. This star appears over a huge lake, called Never Lake, for only one month of the entire year.

The star, which was also called the Miracle Planet, was a place where the wonderful "Time Stones", that commanded Time, lay dormant.

An event in which the Time Stones caused a miracle to occur, was when it would transform the polluted water, and the surrounding desert around it, into a beautiful lake.

The evil scientist, Dr. Eggman, kept a close watch on it.
"The star, Little Planet, where the Time Stones sleep, is suitable for my fortress!"

Little Planet was soon chained over Never Lake, and he began to build a huge fortress. After finding all of the Time Stones, Time flowed freely, and he set forth to attain his world conquest.

Although Sonic, who knew nothing of this plan, was on his way to Never Lake to watch the planet.

"What? Sonic? Coming here? How convenient."

Dr. Eggman heard of of his coming, and had a sparkle in his eye as he wore a fearless smile.

Sonic ran up, and saw the Little Planet attached by a chain, to a rock, and became very upset. He looked at the rock, and saw Dr. Eggman's face, inevitably, in the slope.

"That's Eggman!"

"This time, I will destroy what stops my plans..! And, with the Time Stones, I can conquer the world! Ho, Ho, Ho."

A blue sparkle of light, waited, hidden among the shadows behind Dr. Eggman as he laughed loudly

Although it was Sonic who had destroyed Dr. Eggman's ambitions easily, can the Little Planet be freed?

"OK! As long as I have courage, I can do anything!"

N.B. Michael "G. Silver" Stearns also did a translation of the Sonic CD Story

Well, at that “timeâ€￾ Sonic had only defeated the doctor once. Remember Sonic CD was originally supposed to be released before Sonic 2. But as usually happens with videogames it took a longer time than expected.

As I recall, the Sonic 1 manual mentioned that Sonic and Eggman had always been the worst of enemies, and had been fighting for an unspecificed amount of time (I believe it was translated as "It's not important how long they've been fighting"). We are supposed to assume that they have always fought one another and will always fight one another forever.
