So, is anyone watching the Super Bowl tonight?

Sadly, I'm working like every Sunday night, so I can only watch it on a small black and white TV. It still beats not seeing it at all, though.

And the game's pretty close, too! Who would have thought? I figured New England would be in control through out the game, but neither team is playing exceptionally well. Not that I care very much, since I hate both teams, anyway.

Also, not many outstanding commercials this year, huh? Pretty disappointing, that. The Batman Begins commercial was rock solid, though, and we finally got a real glimpse of the Scarecrow! Rock your socks.

oh, and the Paul McCartney halftime show was pretty sweet, too.

Anyway, are any of you folks doing anything special tonight or just.. meh?

Some of the worst dialogue ever written, showcased in Batman Forever. Bless the restart. Bless it.

Didn't watch the game, but I stuck around to catch the premiere of American Dad. Woo!

Recorded American Dad. I didn't feel like watching the waves of advertisement.
And did McCartney play anything other than Get Back and Live and Let Die?

I thought Amerian Dad was a bit like Family Guy on steriods. Not that that's a bad thing, mind you.

American Dad and Family Guy have different sets or writers, correct? If not, the new season of Family Guy had no hope of being funny.

American Dad seemed to be pretty much Family Guy 2. If I'm not mistaken, it was created well before Seth MacFarlane knew Family Guy would be returning, right?

So, maybe that's why it seemed a bit.. rehashed.

It was created before Family Guy was picked up again. And yeah, it is very much in the same style as Family Guy. The humour and the pacing are pretty much identical... the only thing that seems different is the cast, and considering how underdeveloped and disposable the characterizations are on both of Seth MacFarlane's shows, that doesn't make for an especially big difference.

But all the same, I thought it was pretty good. The german olympic skiier bit? God talking to Cheney? The purse-stealing? That was some funny stuff! I don't know... it didn't feel any more rehashed or unfunny to me than would a new episode of Family Guy.

Didn't watch the Super Bowl because I don't care.

American Dad started off rather bland at first, but it progressively got better. Yes, it's very Family Guy which is no surprise, but I can't help but laugh everytime the alien literally spilled his...guts or whatever. It has potential to be a funny show.

So we're going to have Family Guy, and a show a lot like Family Guy but not as funny and with stale political humor thrown in?

Fantastic.

I heard it's like ebola and AIDS and pedophilic rape on your television. Except less pleasant.

I can't believe that we're now a dynasty! However, it didn't feel all that special which was a major contrast to four years ago. Guess we're still topped out by the World Series; nothing will beat that feeling, ever!

American Dad won't last long because it's so much like Family Guy and because it's not nearly as funny as its predecessor.

Great ads, however. The monkey series from Careerbuilder.com and the "don't judge" one with the cat were my favorites, so was the Busch ad with the troops, that was particularly good.

American Dad pretty much is Family Guy so I think it will do alright. You can't really judge a show by seeing one episode. Well unless that episode totally blew. I think this one was pretty good though.

Stewie and Brian totally kick the ass of Roger the alien and French fish, though.

Yeah, it was like they created those characters simply to use a bunch of leftover Stewie and Brian jokes that they thought they'd never get a chance to tell.

Is it just me, or is Family Guy utter wank. All the jokes are completley obvious and none of the characters are original in the slightest. Its like all the bad tv programs they ever made crammed into thirty mintues. And then people fucking like it. Some people have no taste. None!

Family Guy utilizes every overused joke and tired cliche, every sickening ounce of modern pop culture... only completely over-the-top, cranked up to the most extreme possible degree and executed at the maximum possible speed. Cliches become parodies around mach 5.

How are the jokes obvious? Half of what makes Family Guy funny is its utter randomness.
