Ah, I totally missed that since you just edited your post rather than making a new one! Maybe this just identifies me as an angry-eye Ristar-enemy American, but I think your Catakiller was fine with the angry eyes and mouth, he was lookin' pretty cool. Of course, Catakillers don't appear in the GHZ and they don't have that many body segments, so you're all over it in the inaccuracy department anyway. ;) I think adding color will take care of the business, and you can probably drop the transitional Sonic (the rolling position is hard to draw!), but it does help make it clear that he's just freed the Flicky.

If I have a problem with this picture, it's actually the Flicky. I recognize this particular style of Flicky art so it's not entirely your fault, but he just looks retarded to me. The bits of buzz bomber that he's popping out of are also a bit hard to recognize, so it's not that obvious what is going on.

Anyway.

I don't think many here are still familiar with my old character, Shujimaru: the Ninja from Space, but if you want to see a lot of old crappy art (yet, for quite a while, the "best thing" I'd ever done) then the <a href="http://helldray.livejournal.com/37230.html">option is certainly available</a>.

I quite like the coloring, especially Aika.
And Gsilv, I rather like the cyber squid.

Quick preface: Gametrailers is having a contest to create an amusing video about a lesser-known sibling to a popular videogame character. I chose to create Dave, the black sheep of the Mario family. I've already spent a week planning and messing with sprites and artwork for my entry, there's a week left.

This is a photograph that will be appearing in my video. Dave, obviously, is the ugly one in the middle.

Tried to give the shading sort of a Yoshi's-Island-esque crayon feel.

Well, Mario's not completely out of harm's way, as that angry sun looks like it's out to get him. I love Luigi's bodily reaction, but it does seem like his face could be a tad more expressive. Needless to say, excellent job.

Oh, sure, get the green guy...

Seriously though, sweet coloring job. Rabid goombas make my day.

I'm reminded of just how creepy everything is in the Mushroom Kingdom. When the hills have eyes and even the sun is out to maul you, it's no wonder Luigi is in the state he's in. Nothing's safe, even trying to relax with a bit 'o' fishing could end, tragically, in the belly of Big Bertha.

This only proves that Mario is GOD AMONG MEN for never breaking a sweat. Let's a-go, indeed.

Too lazy to give you cats a thumbnail and Deviantart's shitty "LINK THIS OUTSIDE OF HERE" thing doesn't work on these forums. So uh.

Sonic the Hedgehog, in colored Pencils. I seriously used like 4 shades of blue on just Sonic.

I also know nobody cared, but that thing I mentioned above - the Gametrailers contest - I completed the entry like a week ago and it's here.

I already got the winner confirmation email on August 23rd, meaning I am now $1,000 richer. Or I will be, once the EB Games gift card (the prize) gets here, which will hopefully be sometime next week.

I envy every last one of your art skills. (Especially that last pic by Blaze of Sonic.)

Spongebob "emo"pants
I noticed the new trend in kids being all 'emo' and 'goth' nowadays, and as a joke, decided to doll up a cartoon character who couldn't be any further from the 'goth/emo' stereotype. An old pic from fall 2004.

I can think of a thing or two Mario-related that would look good in this style, and none of them are goombas.

I'm not too sure if this is too big, so just say if it is and I'll put up a thumbnail link.
But just getting back into Wipeout for now. Not sure how long it will last though.

I edited your tag and replaced it with HTML with a "width" modifier to fit the screen better (for those of us at 1024x768 anyway). That's easier than a thumbnail, I reckon.

Hey, <i>WipEout</i>. I have the Saturn version of the first one... managed to make it to the second championship (where all the daytime tracks are at night, all the nighttime tracks are during the day, and everything moves considerably faster), but I never really made it further than that. Felt rather apathetic about it at first (even musing to myself that it's the world's greatest futuristic wall-crashing simulator, given how easy it is to hit the walls), but it's pretty cool now (ie: I stopped sucking so bad).

Shame there aren't too many non-PlayStation-exclusive ones around, though. There's pretty much the first two, the N64 one, and that's it. Oh well. Did <i>2097</i>/<i>XL</i> ever make it to the Saturn in the US? I know it did in Europe and Japan, but I don't really have an Action Replay yet.

Cheers Silv, although the resizing has effected the lines a bit. I'll thumbnail it later today after work.

If I don't decide to redraw it that is...

Fox News wrote:LONDON — Fast food just became hedgehog-friendly. McDonald's Corp. said Friday it had redesigned the cups for its McFlurry dessert so that they no longer posed a danger to the spiky woodland creatures.

The British Hedgehog Preservation Society has campaigned for years against the containers, saying hedgehogs had died while trying to eat leftover ice cream from discarded cups. Campaigners said the opening in the lid was large enough for hedgehogs to stick their heads in, but not to get them out again, and that animals not rescued by passers-by had died of starvation.

Have you considered just modelling these in 3D? I think you might do well with it.

I might do, there's one guy I came across who does outstanding card models that are very detailed. It's a possible direction.
