GO! GO! GO! LET'S GO!

Post by Spazz »

So I just got the first Sonic X DVD (hi-spec edition) straight from Japan today, and since the US DVD probably sucks anyway, I thought I'd just share what I found.

Here's what the US is missing out on:

<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/menu.jpg">
▲The main menu.

Aside from the first 5 episodes, the DVD come with what seems to be a trailer describing Sonic X in general and also contains character profiles.
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailer01.jpg">
▲Well, the plane looks different
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailer02.jpg">
▲What in the hell?!
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailsonic.jpg">
▲Some blue dude
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailtails.jpg">
▲cute...
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailchris.jpg">
▲useless
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailknux.jpg">
▲Fighting and Challenge!
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailamy.jpg">
▲Weight still unknown
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailcream.jpg">
▲Cream...
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailcnc.jpg">
▲-and Cheese! -who's sad again..
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailbigu.jpg">
▲<i>"I'm not fat, I'm big boned."</i>
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailrouge.jpg">
▲How do ya like them jewels? *gags*
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailshad.jpg">
▲Mr. Mysterious..
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/trailegg.jpg">
▲Um...Dr. Eggman

The DVD also comes with an ad for Sonic Adventure DX:
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/dxad02.jpg">
▲Didn't bother to take much screenshots of it. It's all stuff that's been seen a bunch of times already.

Next, there's a 5 minute demo of SADX presented by cute Japanese girl!:
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/dxad01.jpg">
▲<i>"Super Toy Number 1!"</i>
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/dxad03.jpg">
▲<i>"Buy it, and you will have happy feelings!"</i> ^_^

Lastly, the DVD has a free English lesson so Japanese kids will know the right cool phrase to say when they go to the US...or England.
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/eng01.jpg">
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/eng02.jpg">
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/eng03.jpg">
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/eng04.jpg">
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/eng05.jpg">
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/eng06.jpg">
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/eng07dxad.jpg">
▲Free ads come with the English Lesson!!
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/eng08.jpg">
▲Sonic sure does like kids...
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/eng09.jpg">
▲HA-HA! Loser...
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/eng10.jpg">
▲<i>"dot dot dot"</i>
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/eng11.jpg">

Sorry if this is all old news, I haven't seen this anywhere else so I went ahead and posted it here. >_^

What? They don't teach the kids how to say "Damn!" like Sonic did in episode 2? Weaksauce.

For English or Japanese, I doubt the English version would have that

I was just about to mention that, I don't remember him saying "damn":
<img src="http://www.livaudaisnet.com/Cory/SX/shit.jpg">
At least he doesn't say anything about skidmarks on his butt...

Yep, It's official. I already got tricked into buying the bootleg off of eBay, so did Del.

CDJapan.com

Â¥4800 (US$ 43.82)

I also bought the the official Sonic X soundtrack. <b>40 tracks</b>
I'll letcha' know how it is once I get a chance to listen to the whole thing.

You rip it with CDEX or EAC and LAME VBR encoding and send it to me once you get it.

...Please?

$43?!! That's ridiculous.

I got it with the DVD today.

Hah! I knew you'd say that. It's the Hi-Spec edition <i>plus</i> it's an import directly from Japan. And everything is way more expensive there.

Huh, so we get gay purple instead of kickass burnt orange. This sickens me. (no offense, Zeta)

Huh? You mean the plane?
First of all, it's blue, not purple.
Second, that screenshot wasn't from an episode, it was from that video that talks about the show and the characters. So it's possible that that was from during production. Eggman's assistant robots also looked different. I meant to get a shot of that.
Lastly, if it's not from during production, it could just be from some other episode.

Wow. That kicks the one Sonic X DVD my little sister technically owns all over the place.

Points to the kid rolling the Sonic ball. That's cute.

Pretty cool! Now, if only they'd release the special version of the show where it doesn't suck so much.

That "Trailer" is actually the original Sonic X pilot. It's what TMS used to pitch the idea of Sonic X to TV-Tokyo for airing. Once TV-Tokyo agreed to air Sonic X, they produced the actual series.

Pilots for TV shows always contain different/changed stuff. That's why Super Sonic looks so weird, why the X-Tornado is Orange, and why Tecoe isn't Tecoe.

That cute Japanese girl I think is the one who sang the second Sonic X ending theme, "The Shining Road" (with Sonic and Amy in the fog). I forget her name, but apparently she's a big J-Pop idol in Japan, despite only being like, 10 years old. (that's your cue for a pedophilia joke, guys)

I fucking hate idols and I fucking hate kids who are richer than I am. When she's 24 years old and her career is over and all her money has been squandered by her talent agency, I'll toss a quarter at her begging ass and chuckle in my wealthy white supremacist tone.

Aye. I'd say it's a given for any male member of this forum though.

Barring Zeta, of course.

Man, Super Sonic looks really damn weird...

I hate that when a show's dubbed, they cut off lots of interesting bits and try to make it kid-friendly. Screw that, what did they think Cartoon Network is for!?

The second picture isn't loading properly for me... Ah well.

I really need to buy that DVD, though. How'd you get it?

Hard to say. Chances are she'd be fat and unattractive by then. I'd probably still do it anyway just because I could. Nothing screams male superiority and flagrant disregard like wastefully blowing semen on someone or something.
