This was back when Sonic was always showing his teeth. It's just barely visible on that box.

Christ. Now that you mention it, he looks as if he's lunging forward to tear somebody's face off.

I remember making the goal to advance up to Sonic's Crisis City when I had the chance to play this game. I achieved that goal and have never looked back since.

But! But! You have not liiiiiived until you have endured the car-carrying tornado run and its' luck-based collision detection! Or, or even Silver's Kingdom Valley and Magma Core! Only 15 minutes long! Each! never mind that the werehog levels of unleashed are almost all longer

I never made it past the snowboarding stage. I burned through about 20 lives either failing to make jumps or just plain falling right through the ground. That was enough for me!

To this day I don't even really know what the Silver or Shadow portions are like. I haven't even watched them on YouTube!

I lent this to a friend and he raged. Amazingly we are still friends!

Managed to finish the 3/4 stories. Kinda liked Shadow's and Silver's stories. Even though the game takes itself far too seriously.

I really don't mind some of the theory behind the game. Shadow's vehicle sections would have been quite cool with Halo style controls. But in practice Sonic Adventure still pisses on it from a great height. Hell, Shadow pisses on this from a great height.

I remember that for some reason the light dash to Wave Ocean's portal wouldn't hook in properly for me and it would jet me along 3 rings and I would die. And the snooker section on Dusty Desert with Silver. Ughhh...

But the final segment in Kingdom Valley was really nice.

I should better explain myself. I played through Crisis City and then quit. It's the only stage in the game that's ever looked interesting to me (aside from Radical Train, but that wasn't quite worth it in my book). It doesn't help that Crisis City is followed by Flame Core, which I'm convinced is one of the most boring levels in the franchise (oh, you have to defeat all the enemies on this flat surface! Now you're doing simple platforming. Hey! This circular tunnel looks fun! Except that it never works properly... But still!).

I tried HD Sonic Unleashed immediately afterwards and managed to finish it. I found the Werehog tolerable. Eggmanland and Dark Gaia make for an absolutely brutal endgame, but I did keep coming back to it. It's not a perfect title by any means, but it's fun enough to play through in a couple of days.

Every time this game gets mentioned, I want to try it regardless of how terrible it is. I could enjoy it as a train wreck. But then someone says something like...

...and I know I'm better off not touching it.

The game does not have any "ah-hah!" moments. Instead it has a ton of "ok, I see what they were trying to do..." and it has even more "wtf?" rage moments.

That being said I still beat the whole game. I was a different person 5 years ago that's for sure.

haha I wouldn't go that far. Shadow deserves about the same amount of Ire I'd say for being just as tonally misguided and as poorly executed. They're the duo from hell.

Ever since I got a 360, I made a decision to never, ever try this game, no matter how much of a Sonic fan I may be.
But, I succumbed to temptation a week or two ago and got it off eBay. It's currently wrapped under my Christmas Tree.
Maybe my incredibly low expectations will allow me to get some enjoyment out of it?

I can't speak for the game's quality, but I always thought the cover was awesome and wanted a poster of it.

If nothing else, the game is hilarious in how poorly it performs and in how badly the story is executed. The later cut scenes especially are worth lots of laffs, though there are always Let's Plays for that...

I just hope you didn't pay much for it.

I paid $14 for it.

Yeah, I've watched a few cutscenes on YouTube, including the infamous kiss. The story looks like ass. Though I'm curious how Shadow's story plays out. I hear he and E-123 are responsible for the apocalypse or something.

Get out while you can.

Hah, who am I kidding? If it's been five years it's already too late.

Does anyone have any experience with the PS3 version? Does it load more quickly since you can install it to your HDD? My 360's disc drive is long broken and I barely touch that thing any more anywa,y so I am considering re‐buying Sonic 06 for PlayStation 3. <I>w<I>
(And speaking of re‐buying games for PS3, what vile creature took OutRun Online Arcade out of the PlayStation Store?! Fine, don't have my money! Jerks.)

Yes, a miniature Christmas tree. I put it up a few days ago. I love the Christmas season, so I usually put my decorations up a little early.

Wow it's been five years since I've played that infamous buggy demo? I haven't purchased a Sonic game since.

Thank God for rentals.

I just took a closer look to it, and it seems like Sonic is a friggin' giant there. Maybe they should've exaggerated the fish-eye camera effect a little more?

... I'll confess I beat it and took the time to S-rank all stages in Sonic's episode (both normal and hard variants) save for Wave Ocean as Tails and most boss fights. All the others can go fuck themselves 'til the End of the World (lol did you see what i did thar).
cjmcray wrote:I paid $14 for it.
Mine was $26, $18 plus shipping. I kinda scammed myself, but I knew what I was getting into so...

@P.P.A.: This is all I know about the PS3 version: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/x360- ... cle?page=3

And from pokecapn's LP, I'd say load times are about on par with the 360 version, if not longer. The PS3 version doesn't support installing to HDD.
