That too is questionable, seeing as the people using Brawl hacks have been used to doing this themselves for free. Still, my point was more that Brawl has been torn apart to the extent that it is highly unlikely Nintendo could have sustained any momentum with DLC for that game, in the state that it was in.

I hated both Melee's competitive scene and hated Brawl. Brawl just didn't have enough new content to justify the hype machine. I felt like I ended up with a really crappy Kirby game guest-starring 30 other unnecessary characters instead of a Smash Bros Game. I even think Melee's Adventure Mode with it's iconic stages and familiar characters outshone Brawl's Adventure mode which was a poor clone of Kirby in gameplay and a poor clone of Kingdom Hearts in terms of design, aesthetics, and concepts (I'm sorry, calling them Subspacieans or Primes or whatever doesn't stop them from being a more boring version of the Heartless).

If it's any precedent, id said their fans were very wary of buying the map pack for Quake II because there was such a large modding community already established. It still sold, but caused players to question if it was necessary.

With Smash, the modding is more underground. Not a huge percent of people use the mods. I'm sure people would go bonkers for official Nintendo skins and whatnot.

Sold? No. Given out? Eh, do the missions in Mario Kart Wii count? Or the snapshots in Brawl?

Bastards! Looks like the PC release hopes are gone.
This is a beta registry for Sonic Generations found on Steam:

So the demo's been hacked & a level/boss list has been gleamed from it.

Green Hill Zone
Chemical Plant Zone
Sky Sanctuary Zone
Speed Highway
City Escape
Seaside Hill
Crisis City
Rooftop Run
Planet Wisp

DLC
Casino Night Zone

Boss fights
Metal Sonic
Shadow
Silver
"Death Egg" (how does this even...)
Perfect Chaos
Egg Dragoon
Boss LastBoss(TimeEater) (That's just what the file calls it.)

Oh no! There are too many city levels! And too many tropical levels! And there's no mention of Spinball!

I wonder if the boss fights occur in locations outside of the main levels. For instance, maybe the battle against Metal Sonic will be a race through Stardust Speedway's Bad Future.

Also, holy smokes, Sonic 2006 has, like, the most representation of the titles showcased in this game!

I just played the demo. I really, really liked it! The physics worked really well. The only problem I could find was a bit of stickiness when going into a spin attack after hitting a bumper, but apart from that it was really enjoyable to play.

One level and one boss. Death Egg is a boss, so Sonic 2 or Sonic & Knuckles will get equal representation. But yes, it is bad and wrong. Blaze would have been a better rival boss, but I guess they're saving her for the 3DS version?

So that leaked level list from a few weeks ago was true! Well then.

Also, in before "It eats time for lunch!"

Actually, that's one level and two bosses if you count both Silver and the Egg Dragoon, which I certainly do!

Err what? Egg Dragoon is from Unleashed. You're mixing it up with the Egg Wyvern. which was from Sonic 2006. So if anything that's more Unleashed representation.

Well, we're all pretty lousy guessers. Chriscaffe, K2J, Blount and Frieza came closest, though, with three correct guesses each.

Unless, of course, some of the boss fight arenas are placed in different stages! Like, if the Death Egg boss fight actually takes place on the Death Egg, Frieza and Blount will actually have four correct guesses.

Indeed, BUT:
Blount wrote:Gasp! You cheaters. City Escape is pretty much confirmed what with that one singer saying he did a new version of the music for the game.
Frieza put City Escape in his list, which doesn't count. I am clearly the best at thinking like Sonic Team, and thus, hate myself now.

I hope you're proud, Esrever!

Ha!

Interestingly, there were two stages that NO ONE guessed: Crisis City and Seaside Hill.

So the first four stages are good inclusions, and the last five are mediocre to awful. The bosses sound pretty uninspired as well. Ugh.

Why Seaside Hill? I would've chosen Casino Park, Final Fortress or Egg Fleet.

Speed Highway? We already have three City levels. City Escape, Chemical Plant and Crisis City. I would've gone with Final Egg.

I know they won't do it, but I hope there's an "arena" mode where you get to play every against Eggman boss from every game.
And an art gallery with more concept art of Madonna, Pajama Eggman and Mr. Needlemouse. And the 2nd part of "Man of the Year"

I guess if you reeeeeeeeeeally wanna stretch it, you could technically say

Green Hill = Tropical level
Chemical Plant = Factory level
Sky Sanctuary = Sky/Ruins level

Speed Highway = Highway level
City Escape = American City level
Seaside Hill = Combination Tropical/Ruins level

Crisis City = Fire/City level
Rooftop Run = European City level
Planet Wisp = Grass/Factory level

In which case there's technically 7 archetypes that all blend together in some form. It's not like they can't make the stages stand out from one another in other ways. Yeah I'm desperately trying to make this sound better than it is. Kill me.

I am really surprised that there isn't an Ice Cap level. Thought that would be a lock. Again surprised there isn't a gambling/carnival level.

I wouldn't consider it a bad list really, but 4-5 city levels is too much. Hope for Generations 2 then?
