I didn't think I'd ever be excited by a Donkey Kong Country game, but...that looks pretty fun so far.

Gee, I know what I'm going to spend the money I saved from Sonic 4 one. Sega can suck my cock 'cause I'm through sucking theirs.
Can't wait to catch the Jungle Fever.

Is David Wise at all involved in this?
If he is, I'm all in, otherwise... I'm not too sure...

^He is not.
I'm pretty sure it's Kenji Yamamoto, i.e. the man behind the Prime trilogy's soundtrack and half of Super Metroid and Zero Mission.

Tragically, I have actually used it within the last six hours.
Re: November 21st is when Retro Studios bitchslaps Rare. (DK
Huh, I've never said that once in my life.

Wow. Some footage of the last two worlds. Looks like Retro has some Super Mario Galaxy influences as well (Specifically SMG2). Amazing, just amazing.

I mentioned I was pretty sure this was Kenji Yamamoto doing the music earlier.

Now it's a bit too obvious!

Well, I find the over-sized shit-flinger fascinating. For instance Europe is getting a heretofore unreleased version of NES Donkey Kong that features the second screen, cement factory.
Also, Nintendo doesn't have the rights to the arcade version of DK, along with Donkey Kong Jr. and RadarScope, the game whose code they were built from. This may very well explain why Nintendo, unlike every other VG company on Earth, has never put out an arcade compilation, and why they haven't put the games on the VC.

What? Did Rare somehow manage to get the rights for the arcade game's use in Donkey Kong 64? Or just sort of not bring it up?

That thought hadn't occurred to me until after the stupid time edit limit. I imagine DK64's absence from VC further confounds the issue. At any rate, I should've wrote "may not".
Interesting if at all true!

So did they actually write up all new code and graphics for the cement factory level, or did that data exist in some form somewhere?Europe is getting a heretofore unreleased version of NES Donkey Kong that features the second screen, cement factory.

Unless you live in North America, which many sources go out of their way to point out gets bupkis. Hopefully that ROM gets extrapolated and dumped onto the internet whereupon everyone can enjoy it.

Somehow i'd think NSMBWii for free is somewhat less than bupkis, especially to anybody who has no intention of paying the full fifty for it. me me me, lol Don't know about having a red Wii, though.Dr. BUGMAN wrote:Unless you live in North America, which many sources go out of their way to point out gets bupkis. Sure, but it's in a shitty slip-case instead of the oh-so neato red DVD case. Plus I got my copy with 20 dollar credit, ka-ching.
Seriously though, would've it been too much to add a game that wouldn't eat into potential VC sales, like Vs. Super Mario Bros?
I was totally bummed that the Wii didn't come in red, or any color for that matter, at launch.

As someone who barely cares about Donkey Kong, this sure does look good! Much better looking than all the previous titles I can think of, except maybe Mario versus Donkey Kong on Gameboy.
Although they seem to have migrated annoyances from New Super Mario Bros. Wii onto this, such as forced motion control for basic moves (I would rather use the classic controller) and forced 2-player character selection (need a second person to play as Diddy, just like Luigi did). These are minor complaints, but it seems retarded to screw up such basic features on a well-done game.
