Looks like it's counting down in minutes. 41906 minutes away... nearly 30 days? Must be announced sometime in August.

Either way, not particularly captivating.

So I was wrong, actually it's Super Monkey Ball Wii Balance Board.

That bit of info actually has me interested. The marble mini-games in Wii-Fit were by far the most fun. That's not saying much, I know, but they were fun.

Ooh, I know! At the end of the countdown, it will roll Triple Eggmen and little spikes will fly out of your screen and kill you.

It'd be an amusing end to one's life, at least.

Sounds good to me.

Especially if accompanied with Sonic 2's "Game Over" music.

Am I a bad person for never having played Monkey Ball?

Has Aiai always had Pac-Man eyes?

The main game itself is sort of a neat thrill for maybe fifteen minutes, and then gets repetitive.

But the multiplayer modes I've played are pretty fun.

I've never played anything beyond Super Monkey Ball 2. Are the sequels any good?

I think Banana Blitz kinda botched it with the jumping. I really enjoyed 1 & 2, though, provided you played them on GCN. The other systems' analog sticks just aren't sensitive enough for it. Also, for 1 in particular, if you want to get to the Master levels, you need to make sure you have a steady hand and a boatload of patience.

K2J, I think he got Pac-Man eyes in Banana Blitz.

The first Monkey Ball is one of those games everyone should play. But there's no purpose to any of the sequels.

Who in the world is still buying these and why?

I'm pretty sure I'm'a rent this when it comes out, if only for the novelty of it. I'm also pretty sure I'm'a get everything I want from the game out of the rental.

Because they're like parties, but they're better than parties.

I can't possibly imagine that controlling Monkey Ball with a Balance Board would work, unless either movement is incredibly slow or the levels are really, really easy.

I got the September (!) issue of Nintendo Power today. In its story about Step & Roll:
  • Aiai, MeeMee, Baby, and GonGon all return (no word on the two additional characters from Banana Blitz).
  • 7+ worlds, each with 10 stages, no boss battles.
  • No jumping.
  • Stage themes same as Banana Blitz, though with upped graphics.
  • New minigames include "See Saw Ball", where you maneuver floating see-saws to drop the ball on a target.
  • Game is compatible with both the Balance Board as well as the standard Wii Controller.
  • Director is Jun Tokuhara, not previous series mainstay Toshihiro Nagoshi.
  • A secret new feature that "promises a fresh take on the series, and could be very cool." I'm guessing level creator.
