Re: More Mario & Sonic at the Olympics?

Post by G.Silver »

people can't come in acting like people who actually CARE about this franchise, as they will be flamed to hell and back and driven away/humiliated/banned.
This has less to do with caring about the franchise and more about a lack of self awareness, or failure to consider the audience. I love the sentiment expressed by these guys when they come in, but the focus and content of their posts give off the impression that they are under 12, mentally deficient (because there are capable 12 year olds!), or maybe English just isn't their primary language. If none of those are actually the case, then either our posters recognize what the GHZ is about, or they--like many of us--no longer see the point in sharing how much they care about the franchise (when your forum is over 12 years old you can be sure it's come up plenty of times already), but we still come here anyway. I don't really know why.

Exactly! The 7th Chaos Emerald is a lie, there's only six!

Yeah, but Sonic couldn't turn into Super Sonic in the first game, could he? That requires a full set of seven. That seventh one was just missed by both Sonic and Eggman.

And, apparently, Sonic Team...

But yeah, chill, man. Especially about the lack of replies (well, not that that's an issue anymore). This isn't a chatroom, it's a message board - replies take time.

Oh, but the removal of the edit button really is pretty stupid, though. Why do we still have that again? It's not like Dasher or Arcade will be any more competent with such a button (weren't they the reason we had this in the first place?).

I remember reading in the American manual of Sonic 1 that the Special Stages were actually prisons, presumably created by Dr. Eggman to contain Sonic using the Chaos Emeralds as bait. Is this accounted for as cannon, a quirky localization decision, or am I just plumb crazy?

Localization and your wild imagination is a tad kooky. The line was "The Secret Zone is really a trap", chucked in offhand like that smack inbetween two sentences.

I don't mind that as much as I used to, and I was gonna say maybe bump the limit to 10 minutes... then I read the last couple pages.

Oh yes, lame sports game. Well the commercial is a lot less so, if nothing but the last 5 seconds.

I remember the manual said Sonic's source of speed is his super sneakers. I'm not sure if it was referring to the power-up or both, but I like to think it's canon because it's whimsical.

Remember when cartoon animals and there world in which they lived were whimsical?

Sonic the Comic offered up the factoid that Sonic was plenty fast on his own but his sneakers were special friction-reducing thingies, allowing him to go even faster. I always liked that idea.

So, ignoring the last two pages in this thread, i would just like to ask: does anybody know if it is true that Metal Sonic actually talks again in this game? It's pretty neat if it is.

If his previous speaking roles are any indication, that would not be very neat at all.

His only previous speaking role was in Heroes, and since everyone sounded even more like a retard than usual in that one, i dont think you can count it as an indication of what he might sound like in other games.

Hey was mute in the old Sonic movie. I think it works best for the character to be like the defleshed Terminator.

From what I can tell from random YouTube videos, he just makes random machine noises when he needs to "speak", but doesn't actually speak. Kind of like Bowser, Yoshi or DK (the last of whom sounds like a complete retard now - wtf did they do to his voice?).
