Sonic spread in Sega Video Game Illustrations
Recently I picked up an art book containing promotional images for all the major Sega franchises from the late '80s and early '90s. It was a pretty good find since it has a lot of pictures I've never seen before, as well as commentary from the artists themselves. The book even briefly covers theory behind the various design choices for the characters and notes the art supplies used for each picture. I figured there was a good combination of artists and die hard fans running around here, so I've scanned in the six pages dedicated to Sonic's first two titles on the Genesis and Game Gear respectively (the book doesn't cover any games made after 1992).

There are a good 140 pages of illustrations for about 60 games in here, so if you've got a game you want to see the illustrations for, give me a shout and I'll scan them if they're in the book.

Oh man, is there AM2 stuff in there like Outrun, Hang On, and Space Harrier? Also, Fantasy Zone images? I'd love to see any of that kind of stuff.
Also, digging up my account after a year of nonposting to post this.

WHAT IS THE NAME OF THIS ARTBOOK AND WHERE CAN I FIND A COPY FOR MYSELF
But before I make any rash decisions, could you at least list a table of contents of what games it covers?

Re: Sonic spread in Sega Video Game Illustrations
Is Phantasy Star, the Supplementary Story and Phantasy Star Adventure based on the first Phantasy Star? And is there art of Alis Landale? If so, I'd like to see that.
I also want to see Shadam the Crusader, Rent A Hero, Landstalker, the Golden Axes, Cyber Police ESWAT, Shinobi, Kid Chameleon, Bare Knuckle, Alien Storm, Altered Beast, Alex Kidd, Wonder Boy in Monster World 3, and the Outruns.
If Shining Force Central didn't exist I'd probably ask for Shining scans
Anyway, if that's too much then I guess I'll just ask for art of the rarer stuff. That would include Shadam the Crusader, Rent A Hero, and Landstalker. Of course, if you ever get the chance to scan the whole thing I'm sure everyone will give you their love!Too bad that's not worth much, but I still want you to do it!

Awesome. Too bad I don't have any money right now.
Also there there any more pages on the two 8-bit Sonic games?

Re: Sonic spread in Sega Video Game Illustrations
Fantastic find. Is there anything interesting in the Jewel Master section? Because I'd hit that.
Re: Sonic spread in Sega Video Game Illustrations
It'd be much appreciated if you could post scans from
Phantasy Star II
Kid Chameleon
Shadow Dancer
Space Harrier
Space Harrier II
and Out Run.
Thanks!

Re: Sonic spread in Sega Video Game Illustrations
Hey, sorry about the delay on these. Moved back to school and took a little longer than expected to get internet in my apartment. I'll try to upload a few pages once a week or something 'til the whole book's up, so enjoy!
This is the Phantasy Star spread. Cuckooguy, in response to your request of images of Alis Landale, I'm going to have to risk scorn in the Sega community and admit that I'm not really sure who she is. There's an "Alisa" character listed, could it possibly be her name in the Japanese version?

Re: Sonic spread in Sega Video Game Illustrations
Awesome, thanks, and Alisa is Alis. Actually, I haven't played any Phantasy Star title myself although I've been meaning to eventually. At least spoilers for the series aren't rampant on the internet!

Re: Sonic spread in Sega Video Game Illustrations
Interesting... I've played Phantasy Star II, and in the opening cutscene the main character has a dream about some girl fighting a huge dragon or something. Is Alis that character? She looks kind of familiar.
