キタ━━━━━━(゚∀゚)━━━━━━ !!!!!

It's been like what, 8 years since the last one? I bet it'll be animated at, like, 86fps or something. I guess we can assume Ken and Ryu are going to be in it. Maybe Sagat also. Chun-li will too, but not in the first one. She's going to be added in "Street Fighter 4: 2nd Assault" and then they'll give her the ability to throw fireballs in Street Fighter 4: 2nd Assault Turbo". I will buy all three, of course.

I hope a new Vampire game follows.

Anyway, I'm excited.

Fans would burn down the whole Capcom office building within minutes. There's no way it's going to be 3D.

If I had to take a guess, it's a 2D game that uses 3D models/worlds put through a HIGHLY-stylized shader system. It's like Okami, but grittier - much, MUCH grittier. And on a 2D plane. And also if it were a fighting game.

And I ain't complainin'. As long as playing as the ol' shoto characters is as satisfying as ever, I will be getting some enjoyment out of this 'un.

YOU SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH IT WILL NOT USE SHADERS IT WILL BE HAND-DRAWN SPRITES

The home version might even require a RAM pack. Dude, wouldn't that be awesome?

But where would the RAM pack be inserted?
And, though executed in the wrong way lately, many of SF III's gameplay mechanics have been used in SoulCalibur as far as 3D versus fighting goes.
I'll be sincere; if the game is played in a three-dimensional field but using an additional dodge button, Virtua Fighter 3 style, and adding new mechanics to enrich the experience, then I think it'd be fine.

I'd be more jazzed for this (I mean, come on, a new SF game that isn't just an old one with a couple new adjectives added on, OMGYAY!), but I can't help but get the lurking hole in my gut that tells me it'll be exclusive to everything NOT owned by Nintendo, which (as always) leaves me out of the party.

Oh well, if I'm right, at least I'll still have Okami to look forward to...

You're basing this on the teaser, right?

Seems likely!

Of course. Not like there's anything else to base it on... had I NOT seen that, I'd have just blindly assumed it'd be the standard 2D fare it's always been. Now... not so sure.

Apparently, from what I've heard more recently, this is from Capcom USA. You see, most of the people who worked on Street Fighter in Capcom Japan have quit and moved on to other companies by now, or so I've heard, so Capcom USA was handed Street Fighter and Final Fight and stuff.

That's how we got Final Fight: Streetwise and is also apparently how we're getting the upcoming Bionic Commando. Capcom USA was also responsible for the game that could've just been mistaken for a stupid Mugen character pack: Capcom Fighting Evolution.

Given the circumstances and the pedigree, I'm willing to bet it'll be 3D. Whether or not Capcom USA can actually pull anything off, I dunno. I'd like to think Capcom Japan cares enough about the franchise that, if Capcom USA has the balls to call it "Street Fighter 4", somebody from the land of the rising sun will step in to exert some quality control.

I'm interested in what they're going to do, but one has to wonder if it's going to be like watching a train wreck.

Last I heard Capcom USA doesn't have any development studios anymore. The team responsible for Final Fight Streetwise has been dissolved and stuff.

I'm not sure; an older, more mature Sakura would be like a completely different character, probably like Makoto (even her very character represents this whole "youth, energic spirit" thing, or at least used to).

Actually, how old is Ryu? Let's see... birthdate, July 21, 1964. Assuming that the games take place in their year of release (not counting Alpha):

Street Fighter: 23

Street Fighter 2: 27

Street Fighter 3: 33

Street Fighter 4: 44

Hmm. I guess he'll be 55 for Street Fighter 5.

Videogame characters age?
They do in fighting games, or at least they did until about 5 or 6 years ago when developers started realizing that all their valuable IP's were aging into geriatrics. Then they just stopped including birthdates. It's true, go flip through some old manuals. According to the original material, Shun-di should be dead by now and Chun-li should have baggy maw-maw tits.

I thought this thread would be about Le Parkour. Mind you, Street Fighter IV looks a lot nicer.

I always thought it would be cool if in the next street fighter they did not have ryu and ken as the shoto characters but instead have sakura and sean as the only shotos. Seriously though ken and ryu are probbably 40.

I always thought that the day a Street Fighter game has no Ryu and Ken it would mean the franchise was finished.
