I thought I was the only one that experienced this. Everyone I've mentioned this to looks at me funny.
I don't think so, but a lot of them do connect with other cabinets in the same arcade. I remember hearing about some arcade Counter-Strike game Namco released in Japan, but I didn't know they were releasing this. Look like a standard Deathmatch type of game, except with weird items (Snowmen?) and completely different models. Heck, it doesn't even look like a Half-Life game!
That's actually kind of old; I'd first heard of it in 2006, and even THEN I was being told it was old news.
Essentially, it's Half-Life 2, but extremely streamlined. And controlled by joysticks and pedals (IIRC). Most of the gripping plot was cut entirely, in favor of emphasizing the various skirmishes in the game (such as the airboat-helicopter showdown shortly before you reach Black Mesa East). I think there's a multiplayer deathmatch mode as well...
But yeah, that's what I remember about the game. Wikipedia has an article on the game, which is probably more accurate than whatever brain cells I devoted to this information.
I find the idea of the HL2 arcade hilarious, since the only interesting thing about HL2's combat was the gravity gun and that's not much for an arcade game.
