Princess Peach comments on NPD numbers, empowers women

Post by Locit »

The latest press release from Nintendo came in the form of a letter from Princess Peach.
[quote=""Peach""]Oh, my! All this attention is enough to make a girl blush!

As a princess I'm used to being adored, but this is just too much! I know I'm probably sounding like a broken record, but once again my friends at the NPD Group are telling me that Wii and Nintendo DS finished May as the most popular systems in the United States.

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful support! Nintendo couldn't have made it back to the top without you. You're all Mario-caliber heroes in my book.

Now I'm not one to brag, but some of the top games of this month happen to feature someone very pretty and popular - me! I'm talking about the super-fun Mario Party 8 and Super Paper Mario for Wii. Sure, Mario gets top billing, but from where I sit (on my throne), I'd say he's earned it. Besides, my own game on Nintendo DS, Super Princess Peach, is still selling strong, showing that a girl can do anything she puts her mind to.

I think all my Super Princess Peach fans would have just as much fun working to earn their Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree. I'm not in that one, but don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. Be sure to watch for me in my super-stylish soccer gear in Mario Strikers Charged, which arrives on Wii on July 30. I can't wait!

Kisses!

Well, there you have it. A girl can do anything she puts her mind to.

I wonder what Miyamoto or most of the guys at EAD would have to say about Princess Peach displaying this much confidence and intelligence. =P

They seem to be dead-set in portraying Princess Peach as dumb and helpless as possible (See: Super Mario Sunshine).

The affirmed monthly numbers
May 2007 NPD

Hardware
[NDS] 423,150
[WII] 338,278
[PSP] 221,120
[PS2] 187,765
[360] 154,932
[PS3] 81,604
[GBA] 80,554
[NGC] 10,728

Software
331k NDS POKEMON DIAMOND VERSION
314k WII MARIO PARTY 8
249k PS2 SPIDER-MAN 3
238k NDS POKEMON PEARL VERSION
227k WII PLAY W/ REMOTE
217k 360 FORZA MOTORSPORT 2
184k 360 GUITAR HERO 2 W/ GUITAR
140k 360 SPIDER-MAN 3
138k 360 COMMAND & CONQUER 3: TIBERIUM WARS
131k PS2 GUITAR HERO 2 W/GUITAR
Note that Mario Party 8 was released on the 29th and the sales month ended on the 4th of June, I believe. I knew the MP games were huge sellers despite its questionable quality, but over 300K units sold of this game in 7 days!? It's still nuts!

Also, I think this is the first time the PS3 outsold the GBA.

I'm almost shocked the PS3 outsold the GBA, really.

Totally blonde bimbo girl, I bet Nintendo's head honchos are all Japanese businessmen with used buruseras on their heads drinking sake all day long while looking at "braining" and sudoku non-games' sales numbers grow bigger and bigger.

Maybe the moment in which the GBA's hardware is considered clearly obsolete/ crappy and the PS3's price tag is considered "sane" has already come. And Japanese people still don't buy Gears of War or Lost Planet or whatever the 360 offers that the other two systems don't, so...

I'm surprised all these systems outsold XBox and that it's not even on the system list.

The Xbox 360 has been out too long for the Xbox to have any base anymore.

Hey, where the hell is the jewel that's supposed to protect me? I'm supposed to get a P-wing or at least a Jugem's Cloud.

Somehow I could only think of tail as her ass instead of, er, a tail.
Must've been that picture up there.

I'm glad she pointed out to everyone that she sits on a throne. I always assumed she sat on a very comfortable sofa.

All it did on this end is make me think of Princess Peach as a catgirl... not quite the same thing.
