Your logic is astounding. I'm not even going to question it. Also!

It's an emotional rollercoaster.

And maybe a better themed stage would be Labyrinth (so everyone may randomly drown or something)? I personally hope for Starlight or Stardust Speedway.
Or even better, a combination of the two factors; Chemical Plant.

If Sonic only gets one stage, it pretty much has to be some sort of Green Hill Zone, I think! But if he gets two I really don't know how they'd pick the second one.

If his first stage is a nature stage (assuming it's not Green Hill itself), his second stage should be the opposite: somewhere Robotnik would hang out. Scrap Brain or Chemical Plant would be my choices. Maybe even Death Egg.

I think if Sonic gets a second stage it should have a casino/pinball theme.

Hmmm... a pinball stage would have tremendous smash madness potential.

Do what must be done, Sakurai.

The full script is painful. To me, it reads like the guy Q-Games payed to write it had recently broken up with his girlfriend and took it out on the characters. It's the only rational explanation for Slippy having a fiance. None of it's going to end up canon, but it still killed my last bit of interest in the series.

I thought the gameplay and branching paths were fun, yes, but the crappy soap opera endings bugged the fuck out of me. The different ships made up for it, though.

Until now I had only ever heard of Krystal the fox, wondering what the fuss was about I did a google search, AND WAS DELUGED BY FRIGGIN FURRY-ISH-NES. Why is it that overworked game designers fall back on putting animal heads on human bodies? it is disconcerting, I foresee the end of the human race as a result of this.

As for a green hill level, I was thinking to myself that the boss area would make a good level. It has no pits, and could feature Eggman occasionally coming in and swinging his ball and chain. And though it is unfeasible, a level based on the giant Egg-bot fight from the end of S3&k would be neat.

Could you have expected any better? She's a sexualized female fox in a mainstream video game series targeted at teens and preteens. That pretty much makes her the furry mascot.

Well actually, the official mascot of furry is Cox the Fox.

Actually, that Star Fox themed stage takes place in outer space, so Death Egg/ Doomsday is a no-go. The same happens with Lava Reef and any tropical or nature stage (sans the checkered patterns).

We need some typical Sonic location that isn't similar to any of the others, so the two things that came to my mind were underwater and highway levels. A casino/ pinball one would be the summit of awesome... OK, a Sonic 1 "Special Stage" (the Cameltry labyrinth marble one) would be even more awesome :P .

... And search for images of "Sonicker".

Everyone click Frieza's link, I'm already faping XD .

Oh it might. Takaya Imamura said for the record that the next game (likely on the Wii) will set somewhere in that 1-year gap between Assault and Command.

...so OK, but how about those eight frigging years between 64 and Adventures? (When was that manga set, BTW?)

\/ Now what voodoo made his post jump mine?

I forget all the details, but it had Fox and Falco in an Arwing shootout and it's canon.

Aside from a "green" level, a casino/pinball/neon level, and some kind of industrial level, I don't think there are many levels that are real staples of the series. Most of the other locales (water, snow, fire) are usually interchangeable and could individually be left out of a Sonic game without much of a fuss.

But we're all assuming Sonic is even going to get a second stage. I'm guessing they'll include two third-party stages (Sonic and Snake), but not two for each third party game. I'm also beginning to doubt there'll be another third party character added.

I have no idea of which you speak.

Ditto, but there's still the chance Pac-Man or MegaMan will be added, seeing as how Nintendo has working relationships with Capcom and Namco and Megaman was pretty highly asked for. But yeah, probably only one stage per third-party character - like Mr GW and the Ice Climbers in the last game.

Here we go, this comic. Kindly translated to de eengleesh too. My answer was four years.

I'm not counting any more third parties getting in. Two out of currently 22 (with Captain Falcon on the way) is plenty. And silly me, I forgot to chime in on the changes made to classic mode:

It's not really the same... I'm not talking Radical Highway (with vehicles and stuff), but classic Starlight/ Stardust/ Speed "nocturne" feel, with a radiant city in the background (also like Casino Night or the like). The only other game that had this kind of feel with vehicles was Wipeout if I remember well, and that one is not being featured in Brawl.

Despite my earlier comments, I'm kind of expecting the (potential) second stage to have 3D origins. I have my doubts they'd just tack on L&L as the theme and then go solely 2D. Either some generic culmination of the ARK's innards (really, anything from SA2 or Shadow, it all got pretty homogeneous) or something like Emerald Coast or City Escape (which, don't get me wrong, was a good level, I just don't see any allure to it if you're not in motion).

But deep down I'm really rooting for Chemical Plant. Maybe I just want that music to be covered, but when I think of how much Sonic was graphically on top of things in the mid-early-90's, Chemical Plant is the first image my mind pulls out.

So far, there's a lot of classic feel to Brawl Sonic, so I still have hope that he'll get a classic stage. If he gets a 3D-era stage, it'll probably be at Sega's insistence.

But hey, Green Hill Zone was in SA2! Let's hope they remember that.

Despite the complaints about overpowered Meta knight, no one said anything about the fact that his final smash is rather hit or miss, make a mistake and you open yourself up to a pounding.

Also if there was to be a chemical plant zone what would be the best way to capture the feel of it? You could have moving or break away flooring with mega-mack underneath to capture that particular aspect. But the greatest appeal to me was the insane speed, the "I can not see sonic anymore awesomeness", and I cannot think of how to get that. Just having a moving platform will not cut it (I wouldn't think).

And I know there will disparaging words flying at me, but good lord I hope Shadow will show up as a playable character. I would pay three times as much money for the game because I would never ever have to buy or rent another Sonic game. I would never have to worry about how SEGA would continue their destruction of Shadow with each new game, when I wanted to unleash his mad skillz all I would have to do is boot up brawl; it would be wonderful. Unfortunately the chances are astronomically slim, but wishes are eternal, or something like that.

So if you're playing in a metal match will the announcer call him "Metal Sonic"?

Check your mailbox tomorrow, the mailman will deliver to you more disparaging words than you can handle!

In paper form.

Now then, back to the subject at hand:

I'd say have it take place on an oversized version of the floating platforms, which is itself sliding along Chemical Plant's railways (probably without physically touching the floor itself). Sort of the second F-Zero stage in Melee. I'd suggest having the platform stop every so often at an area with mega-mack rising and a few extra rotating block platforms on the sides, but that might be too close to both the new Ice Climbers stage and the old Metroid stage.
