Speaking of Jr.'s... so far Bowser Jr. has a sticker of himself in the game. Will he be a possible playable character? AT? Trophy at the very least?

Guys, guys.

I think we need to take another look at this video from Nintendo's Japanese Wii site.

Why do we care?

Take a look at these screenshots. They actually reveal something.

Heh. Well what do you know... it seems Sakurai can't always protect his information well. This confirms two returning characters and another newcomer.

While I'm glad that all three characters are confirmed, I hope those stickers don't show all of the characters in one series. That would rule out a lot of characters from the Earthbound and Pokemon series I guess.

And I'd also like to cling on to my hope that the Sonic series will have more than one representative. I mean, its totally why they haven't revealed Sonic's stage and AT's yet.

EDIT: He took the stickers off the official video! This does not help anybodies chances. Why test my faith!?

I think Mother will only have two characters. But that's OK, because they picked the two most important characters in the series.

Oh, and this all confirms what some guy on GameFaqs said - he said that Lucario would replace Mewtwo, the Dragoon would be included as a powerful item, Wolf will be the third Star Fox character, and Ganondorf, Luigi, Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, and Ness would all return. So you might as well include Wolf as the fourth accidentally revealed character.

Pretty sure that's the Pokémon Trainer and not Ness. I mean, the other characters are Pokémon-related, so Ness would kind of stand out like a sore thumb...

But yeah, there's definitely a character icon there that stands out. Kind of hard to make it out, but Lucario's a better guess than any other I could make, so...

ED: Oh, wait, I see; Ness was in the first picture. I thought you just had that there for emphasis or something. :P

It appears as though the video has been changed to edit out those character icons now. HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS!

Wow, looks like updates are post-poned for an indefinite amount of time. Notice the site now says it will update "periodically."

I guess this is because the Japanese release date is so close? Hm...

It's being passed around that the final roster from piecing together various sources is actually Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Wario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Link, Young Link (Wind Waker), Zelda/Sheik, Ganondorf, Samus, Pit, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Pokemon Trainer, Lucario, Kirby, Dedede, Meta-Knight, Ness, Lucas, Captain Olimar, Fox, Falco, Wolf, Ice Climbers, Mr. Game and Watch, Captain Falcon, Ike, Marth, Snake, Sonic, and R.O.B.. Based on what we know this far, I consider this to be the most likely lineup yet. It's nice to see the only non-returning characters, if this is true - would be Dr. Mario, Pichu, Roy, and Mewtwo. And of them, only Mewtwo is a unique character

Really? I always thought it said "Daily" updates. Guess I jumped the gun since the Zelda update didn't show up for me. Never staying up that late again, especially not for the update...

R.O.B? I really doubt that. Considering we already know he's an enemy in SE.

And doesn't he kind of stick out as the only non-original enemy character?

There is no longer any mention of "daily updates", I wonder what that means?

Weird note, I went to look up what the hell Lucario was and got sidetracked onto a MewTwo article; when I got there I read something about Mewtwo's backstory and realized that Sonic Team must have had tickets for a special screening of Mewtwo Returns. Shadow and Mewtwo share nearly Identical backstories, the only difference between the two is that Shadow's gal lived longer and wasn't a clone.

I'm still hoping for Ridley. Metroid is one of Nintendo's most successful series, it wouldn't seem right if Kirby and Star Fox each got three characters and Metroid only had Samus with a transformation variant.

Kirby is more popular than Metroid, however Starfox isn't--which is puzzling.

...Unless, Nintendo is planning something big(maybe a refreshing) of the Starfox franchise.

I'm pretty sure Star Fox is historically more popular than Metroid.

Metroid has never really been a blockbuster franchise. Starfox and Starfox 64 outsold every game in the series, and Starfox Adventures outsold every game other than Metroid Prime. The original Prime is still the only Metroid game to break 1.5 million sales worldwide.

No one expects Samus to compete with Mario, Link or Pokemon, but the poor girl can't even live up to the bigger-selling B-characters like Kirby, DK, or Fox. As far as sales go, she seems to wallow around the same levels as F-zero and Pikmin.

I don't see Star Fox charting here, but I do see the Metroid franchise moved 13 million units.

Japan hates Samus and Metroid is pretty much the only explanation I can give you. If only she were a gorgeous effeminate bishounen . . .

I don't think Japan likes Fox and his Furry Flyboy Friends and Fiends that much either.
