Tarantino is an overrated hack.

You could justifiably criticize QT for billions of things, but using the word "hack" (as in someone who just tosses things off for the money) is ridiculous.

Tarantino is very, very overrated, and started off his career copying other directors. But he's not a hack, and NO ONE does ultraviolence like he does. Man.

Well, I saw the two volumes of Kill Bill and it was quite amusing and fresh, but not "totally awesome". Don't know why, you have the action, the violence, the Kazuto Nakazawa animated sequence... maybe the actors were a little off.

For extreme violence (but not to a ridiculous degree) I liked Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York, though it's not a terror/ zombies film or anything.
And I still have to see any QT movies other than KB, and Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange for more gratuitous violence too.

My favorite scene in Pulp Fiction was a deleted one.

I'm not a Tarantino fan. Kill Bill Vol.1 was OK, but 2 was plain boring. I've never felt a need to see any of his films a second time after having viewed them. Robert Rodriguez, however, has earned my respect with Sin City. Also, "chick with a machine gun leg" is conceptually superior by far to "killer car driver."

What I meant by hack is that he is overrated, and all of his films, save for one, Resevoir dogs, bored me to death.

Sin City wasn't a Tarentino flick, but it too, was incredibly boring. Pretty, and visually creative, yes. But still boring.

Quentin Tarantino: Overrated.

Michael Crichton: Hack.

Many hacks are also overrated.

Yeah if you're some fucking sissy. Any real man gets a raging boner on that level of violence and awesome, especially when it's executed with so much style and badassery.

For the record I hate the shit out of Kill Bill though. It was really violent, yeah, but it wasn't "cool" in the least... and I don't particularly care for Uma Thurman either...well unless it's Pulp Fiction of course.

I admit, I really liked the visuals of Sin City, but it was just incredibly boring, Especially the one with Clive Owen and the prostitutes.

But the two sequences with Willis were pretty good. Overly violent at times (but that's probably the point of the film) but kept my interest better than the two previous stories.

And let's not forget Albaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

I read God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater and Cats Cradle. I liked how easy they were to read, since I was forced to read them for class and was able to read both in a fairly short period of time.

Ice nine was pretty cool too.

Okay, I saw the topic at hand tonight finally. I think the most memorable thing about the experience was how the two movies interacted with each other, and like Grant wrote earlier, I can't imagine seeing the two seperately as other regions will have to. As I've said, I don't generally like Tarantino's films, but his long-ass dialogue and light-hearted vehicular craziness proved something of a relief after the non-stop, hard-core, edge-of-your-seat action of Planet Terror. As for the trailers, Machete and Don't had me fucking rolling in my seat, but Thanksgiving was ... just ... wrong.

Overall, a fun experience, but not as good as 300. Y'know, imho.

Anyway, has anyone seen Hot Fuzz yet? I'm really looking forward to that.

Edit: Also: "If anyone comes to the door, I want you to shoot them. Just like in your video games." Best line in Planet Terror.

I spent the whole day today quoting Grindhouse at appropriate situations. Unfortunately, the friends I was with hadn't seen it yet, so the awesomeness of it all fell on deaf ears.

I'm not sure I'd actually want to bother sitting through a whole Machete film, but I'm certainly willing to give it a chance; it could very well be the best thing ever.

I saw Planet Terror yesterday (with Machete included xD), I will see Death Proof in a pair of weeks since they are released separately here... maybe I will repeat PT the day DP is released. I enjoyed the whole movie thou, it was not violence or terror as much may think but lots of jokes in a very good tribute to B-movies, plot and characters included

Off-topic. About Sin City, I can't really tell about the movie itself, what amazed me was the fact that the movie was exactly the same as the visual novel, wich says much in favour of the novel, I enjoyed the novels and I enjoyed the way they ported it visually speaking. And I love Marv lol

I actually saw Pulp Fiction for the first time just last week. It was rather good in my opinion...

I agree that they did a great job making Sin City look exactly like the graphic novels. I don't see why other comic-based movies haven't ripped off this idea yet.

(I've also yet to see either of the Grind House flicks or this "300" movie everyone seems to have liked.)

So I heard that in some regions the lap dance scene in Deathproof got the chop. Can anybody attest to this? I just have to know whether some people were cheated of their money which went towards what was supposedly going to be a film with fleshhhh

Hmmm, the movie starts with the heroine in her job, dancing, I don't know if there is any cut in the scene, but I don't remember any lap dance (thanks wikipedia :P)
