Seriously, step out of your mindset for one second and look. Half of the board is bitching about the canon. The other half is bitching about the shitty gameplay.

All fail to realize there is NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. Sega shat it out and sent it out the door.

You know, you're right.

Everybody! Stop complaining. And by everybody, I mean the whole world. Don't like President Bush? Too bad! Don't bitch about him, there's nothing you can do.

Any and all complaints about everything are moot! Stress release is overrated!
So why are we ripping each others throats out over the fact that two characters in a video game make out? Why is everybody trying to be the ultimate authority on Sonic? I'm guilty as everyone else, but you know what!? Fuck it, I'm leaving this topic. It's a goddamn video game people, not the Da Vinci Code! If you think it's a shitty game forget about it and stop bitching to a development company who really doesn't care about you (otherwise it'd be good in the first place), if you think it's a good game play it and stop trying to make a religion around Sonic. We have enough psycho religions as it is.
Look. I understand where you're coming from. I hate being one of "those guys" who sits around being jaded and cynical, waving his cane and going "IN MY DAY, WE PLAYED SONIC USING ONE BUTTON AND A D-PAD!". Infact, I'm surprised it's not me going "YOU ALL SUCK FOR BITCHING THIS MUCH".

But the point is that different things hold different levels of importance for certain people. A claim that we have "no life" is a pretty weak one - because everybody has a different defenition of what having a life is. Just because something doesn't fit into your little world, suddenly it means we "don't have a life". We spend too much time arguing or discussing subjects you consider too trivial.

But we don't consider them trivial. The entire reason we are (or were) Sonic fans is because Sonic meant a little more to us than average joe #247. In some cases, he meant a lot more. And while in your world, you're going to go, "You're arguing about a cartoon hedgehog!" - we've invested so much time and so much emotion into this character and this franchise...

To see it continually and repeatedly ruined to the point where you feel embarassed going into a Gamestop or an EB and picking up a new Sonic game... it's frustrating. It's like a part of your soul has died. All that invested emotion... pissed away.

And we have to do something with that frustration. We can't just sit here and keep quiet about it. So we argue. Sonic did this wrong, that part's creepy, the controls should be this way, Shadow shouldn't exist, Sega makes murder porn, blah blah blah blah.

Deal with it.

I wonder how you can be pissed off at people expressing negative opinions in a topic that was designed for that purpose...

See, if it was all over the board, I can see where you would be pissed off, but seeing as it's more or less confined to this topic...

Hey guys cheer up! remember that we still have Sonic secret Rings and well I havent played Rivals but I heard it was nice.

Theres still hope! the PS3 vesion was delayed and who knows maybe the game has a few more surprizes than we think.

Lets just pray Sonicteam uses this time to fix all the bugs and if needed they could delay it again.

I do feel I stand for all idiocy when I ask this, but does SonicTeam have a policy for not allowing Non-Japanese people in their company? Obviously SonicTeam USA wouldn't, but what could you do there?...

er. . . I don't think there would be an official policy. Racism is the accepted norm over there as is.

Maybe that bullshit will disappear now that Naka is gone (and, I hope, Iizuka as well).

Shun Nakamura mentioned once that Sonic is the most important product to Sega, and because of that, you're not allowed to fail. View that however you will.

it doesn't mean they'll do anything. Nakamura will open a gaming magazine, see the score and scream, "THIS IS NOT ALLOWED!!" Nothing is done and life goes on.

Failure has nothing to do with reviews and everything to do with sales, and in that respect the Sonic franchise is unfortunately succeeding.

But will this game be as successful as Sonic Team wants it to be to attempt another sequel in the same vein as this game? I mean most of the Sonic sales came from the 6-12 crowd that own GCNs.

I'm not so sure if most people who owns Xbox 360 would actually want this game or if there are a lot of kids who would want a 360(even if Viva Pinata is also an exclusive title)--especially in the wake of the cheaper Wii hype train and the established PS2/DSLite brands.

For example, last Novemeber, when Sonic Rush was released it moved around 200,000 units during the holiday season despite the good reviews. Meanwhile, Shadow moved a bit over 500,000 units on the GCN alone probably due to the established kid fanbase and it being much cheaper and than the DS.

Though since then Sonic Rush seems to have longer staying power on the charts than Shadow.

Another thing to think about, even though Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog was successful financially, I doubt that we will get a sequel to either games anytime soon because of the bad publicity both games seem to have recieved.

Most likely, we won't get a sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog 2006. Though we would probably get something as shitty due to reusing the same awful elements in previous games in the near future and it will be released as a different name.

Heroes was worse than Adventure 2, and the new Sonic is worse than Heroes to most people. How are they going to top shit with more shit?

Well, you just answered your own question.

Maybe in the next game after Sonic Wii, they will look at the Tales of... series for inspiration and add an even shittier take on racism as a plot point.

To think, there was a time where I thought Heroes was the lowest they could go. =(

Huh? Sonic 360 is definately better than Heroes. And slightly better than Shadow. Mostly only because Sonic controls very close to Shadow from that game, while Shadow himself ironically handles much better.

You say that as if shadow was better than heroes. Shadow is the worst game I have ever played. Right next to Megaman X7. Good day.

I'm with Rappy here. Heroes first stage was actually fun; the game just went down from there. Shadow started out sucking and stayed crappy constantly the whole way through.

I rate Shadow higher only because you don't have to switch between tons of characters instage. Aside from that, it wasn't as good as Heroes, no.

I thought the first 6 levels of Heroes was fun but I preferred Shadow.

Some of the later levels in Shadow were quite fun (The Ark, Lost Impact, Gun Fortress).

There is absolutely no way Sonic 2k6 is better than Sonic Heroes. I was okay with Heroes, but I acknowledge it had a lot of problems - I could've done without the teamplay aspect and half of the stages were generic (Hang Castle, Frog Forest) or frusterating (BINGO Highway). But there were defenitely fun parts (Seaside Hill, Ocean Palace, Grand Metropolis, Egg Fleet).

Sonic 2k6, gameplay-wise, is a solid turd, all the way through. The level design is a step in the right direction, but the game mechanics (Amigo Characters, Princess Carrying, any time driving one of Shadow's vehicles isn't optional) and controls ruin any semblance of fun you might get from the level design.

Lost Impact
Was not fun in the least. A freakin' labyrinth in which you're searching for absurd amounts of obscurely placed Artificial Chaos enemies, all of whom are being pointed solely by an accomplice that has a tendency to tell you to kill various enemies you've already killed? Yeah, sounds like a real good time.

Oh sure, you could just go and beat the level by reaching the goal, but really, after attempting that Hero mission, you'll be sick of the level, period.

Radical train was the most fun I've had with a Sonic game in a long time (although motor bike section for Shadow kinda sucks). I love the mach speed zone in that level. If all the levels were that great I would have been very very happy with the game. Only parts I truley despise in the game are Sonic's snowboarding segment in White Acropolis and the mach speed zone in Crisis City (cheapest thing ever, it's impossible not to get hit).

I dunno, once I got over the shitty camera I had fun with Sonic 2006. Sure the adventure fields were boring and the cheap deaths at the end of a ten minute level pissed me off, but I enjoyed playing it and wanted to beat it. Heroes I had to honestly force myself to play for the last several levels. Then I had to force myself again with 3 other groups. That game was just not fun to play and it had all the cheap shit that Sonic 2006 has. Whoever thought changing characters in game on the fly was fun didn't play much of the game... or you know, has different tastes.
