Sonic Mars(Early Sonic Xtreme script)

Post by Gaz »

An early script for Sonic Xtreme is available to download on Sonic Cult.

One of the most notable things is that the game was originally planned to be based on the SatAM Sonic universe. Storywise, it's pretty crap with a rather stupid love triangle element. The gameplay of it just sounds dodgy which was how Sonic Xtreme looked from what I've seen of it.

It's like a mishmash of the SatAM AoSTH and game universes.

What a bitter disappointment. It had Sally and Bunnie as playable characters! It even had SWATbots! If only the game they were to be in wasn't so lame (and canceled)...

Wow. It's like the prototype of Sonic and his 'bazillion' friends to appear in every main Sonic title since SA1. It's even got ideas inspired by focus groups!

I remember seeing licensing for the game being pumped out little by little in late '96.

A local ice-cream shop started selling "Sonic X-Treme" popsicles in the shape of Sonic's head with the Sonic X-Treme logo on the packaging.

Fat Tuesday is a horrible level name. I'd rather have Anal Butt Zone.
Actually, that would be pretty awesome.

Clearly their attempt to mine gold from the Sonic the Hedgehog/Image crossover by putting that Spawn villain in there. Those clever, clever bastards.

Eh, the designs aren't completely terrible. Certainly nothing amazing or groundbreaking, but not that bad, either.

I'm confused by their "competition" section, they're listing Cotton, a "first person" game, published by <i>EA</i>, as a potential rival? Does this mean EA was planning on releasing the now impossible-to-obtain Panorama Cotton in the US?

Just to clarify here...doesn't Mardi Gras mean Fat Tuesday? If so, would Sonic have gotten his hog-titties out for coloured beads? Man, I've been waiting too long for that shit.

Well the clown is throwing beads at Sonic, so I suspect that was the idea.

I'm supsecting the Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras themed zone must have been the "carnival" zone here, so I guess it would fit in a Sonic game.
