I think we can consider all doubts about this film pretty much erased.

Mostly looks pretty cool apart from the new Green Goblin costume. That said, you don't really get a clear look at it and it could just be a prototype.

The trailer looked impressive but the film still seems a bit overcrowded to me. We've gone from one villian per film to four(if Avi Arad is to be believed) in this along with Gwen Stacy. I have faith Sam Raimi can pull it off but it still sounds like a lot for one film.

They haven't revealed it yet. Not completely sure if it's true either. Since the trailer's been shown there's been some speculation that fourth villain is actually a reference to Spider-Man's internal struggle with the symbiote.

So the symbiote would be two seperate villians then?

I also noticed that Danny Elfman isn't coming back to do the music for this one, which is a huge <a href="http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pict ... >bummer</a>.

Yeah, him and Raimi had a huge fight and one ended up calling the other a "pod person".

That would be Mr. Elfman circa 1983. These days he looks significantly <a href="http://www.nndb.com/people/277/000025202/">less awesome</a>.

I will see it because I will be able to for free, but the trailer didn't look that exciting. The same goes for Superman Returns for that matter.

Teaser trailers don't always give a good indication of a movie quality. I mean, take Cars; the teaser didn't really leave me with any information surrounding the plot of the movie (but then, Pixar's teasers never do), and didn't strike me as particularly funny, yet I hear it's a very good movie.

Anyway, since I can't be bothered to install QuickTime on my new computer (I freakin' hate that program; last time it was installed it completely hijacked Firefox's MP3 playback, and the fact that iTunes is a mandatory install too is just ridiculous), I went over to another to do it. As of such, I didn't get to rewatch it too many times (little brother pressuring me to turn on Worms 2 for him), but from what I saw, it seems interesting. Hopefully they don't botch it; not because it's a sequel, but more because, well, it's easy to botch a movie. Fortunately, this is largely the same talent that did it before (sans Elfman), so shouldn't be too hard to get it right, right?

Makes me wonder how that Batman Begins sequel's coming along. Can't be too far in, true, but it's promising a return of the Joker, which could be very interesting... again...

No no, your impressions were pretty much dead on. Not terribly funny, but not terrible either. The best part for me was the little short film before the movie about street performers.

Looks like there's a pretty slim chance of them putting in my favorite spiderman villian, Shocker, in there. I know he's lame but that's what makes him so cool...right?

I don't know, I found Cars to be enjoyable. It certainly wasn't the best Pixar movie that has been released(it's going to be hard to top The Incredibles) but I wouldn't call it the worst(coughABug'sLife). Cars did felt different than most Pixar films in that it didn't have a real central villian and that the "rescue mission" wasn't a big part of the central plot.

I really enjoyed parts of it, but the pacing is what really killed me. It was really uneven, and when they cut to a musical segway about 'the way things used to be' at what I thought was already the slowest part of the movie I sort of died a little inside.

Pixar hasn't made a bad film yet, and all their teasers are wildly underwhelming.

Shadow Hog: Download QuickTime Alternative.

Locit: That was the point. The entire message of the movie was about not taking life too hard, slowing it down, and enjoying the ride.

Pep: How can a 90 second teaser quell doubts about a film? From everything I've heard so far from my friends in at Sony, the script is rather stuffed and it sounds like they'll have trouble fitting everything they're planning into a sub-two hour film. Four villains?

I enjoyed the Spider-Man movies. They were good. But I wouldn't call them great, and Spider-Man 2 was definitely worse than 1. It also peeves me that they picked Ultimate Venom over 616 Venom.

Cars wasn't bad. It was however, completely unremarkable and generic as an animated film. I was disappointed in its characters and pacing. I cringe whenever I hear pixar staff commenting(usually in promotional shorts) on how difficult it is to add reflections on a vehical as opposed to speaking about characters or plot. Pixar wasted too much time making this film look good, a feature that should come second to story telling.

I don't know, maybe I'm just glad to see the church bell scene intact? And we still don't know what the deal is with the fourth villain yet, so it's not something I'm going to start worrying about right now. For all we know it could just be a Miles Warren cameo, or something. But based on what I've seen so far, the movie is more or less shaping up the way I've been hoping it would. Whether or not that's good for everyone else remains to be seen!

I haven't seen anything to indicate that we'll be getting "Ultimate Venom". Apart from the fact that Topher Grace looks more like the Eddie Brock from that series, they seem to be taking more cues from the animated series than anything else.

Spider-Man 2 was definitely better than the original. What are you, gay or something?

Spider-Man 2 was awesome. Spider-Man 1 drags in the middle, I thought.

Not sure what to make of this teaser. They're really playing up the emo symbolism a lot - I understand the stuff about the symbiote suit being bad, but it's on the edge of cheesy in this trailer.

I'd argue that 2 was better in terms of action and choice of villian. Anything beyond that is up for grabs.

Three to four villians seems like overkill. I was hoping for two villians, a la the Batman films. Not to mention that Gwen is finally making an appearance. It might be safe to say that we have another X-men 3 on our hands.

Meanwhile, according to the promotional image, it seems like this film will be taking an even deeper dive into Spidey's darker, more melodramatic side. The fact that I've only heard him crack one joke throughout both films disappoints me.

I was expecting Green Goblin to return, not Hobgoblin to come around. I can't wait to see Venom scare the shit out of my little cousin, serves him right for pretending to be Spiderman and jumping off the top of slides.

That's exactly what I was using, actually. Still hijacked MP3s, but at least it ran YTMND competently. I think using generic QT would do the former but not the latter...

For what it's worth, Tobey Maguire makes several quips as Spidey in the related video games. Consider it a good thing that he doesn't do it in the movies; he's not that good at it.
