TV Fell on My GameCube

Post by Zeta »

I hate flatscreen TVs for this reason. They're like picture frames, only heavier. They just kinda can't be balanced on their stands right. Anyways, a flatscreen TV tipped over and fell on my GameCube. It apparently felt it, since the game froze up and I had to restart it. Since then, it's been making a slightly loud "whirring" sound whenever I play. I don't know if this is something new or something I never noticed. Can anybody else with a GC attest to what sort of noise they make while engaged?

Still, I hate flatscreen TVs.

I would be more worried about damage to the TV.

The thing is, it's not my TV. Heh. Actually, it has a scratch on it, but it's only visible if you look at it from the side while the light is reflecting from a certain direction.

Because it is his Gamecube, braniac.

Zeta, my GC barely ever makes any noise. I can hear it whirring a bit sometimes when I start it up, but it's getting on in years, so that's expected.

It makes a whirring sound on mine. Some games make it louder for some reason.

The TV falling on the Cube may have knocked something loose. But, if it still plays games, then I wouldn't be too concerned about the noise. The thing was build like a tank, so it's pretty damn hard to really damage them.

You wanna talk about system noise, then let go get my Dreamcast.

Every flatpanel TV I've seen has a huge freaking stand. I've never really seen an unstable one. However you might want to consider moving your GameCube to the right about 3 feet in the future.

In the noise department, when I am playing graphically intense games like RE4 it is kind of noisy. I think that might be because I use my Cube to play like 2 games a year now and I've had it since a few months after release. My dreamcast is loud as sin, I am amazed that thing can still spin discs. Too bad I have no A/V cable for it, so spinning discs is a little pointless.

Speaking of unwanted DC noise, I'm still pissed off that my VMU insists on doing its best smoke detector impression whenever I turn on the console.

I love it. The best thing ever is having 8 simultaneous electronic screams of orgasm every time I power on my Dreamcast.

Then go to Walmart, spend 3 dollars and buy some CR 2032 batteries. Drive home, put them in your VMU's, and proceed to miss the orgasm.

Edit: Oh and don't forget to repeat that process every 10 or 15 days. Maybe more now that you probably don't play your Dreamcast as much.

My dogs run and hide whenever I turn my Dreamcast on.

If you want some cheap batteries, look on eBay. I got a 20 pack of CR2032s for like 8 bucks.

How many games even have VMU games besides the Sonic Adventure games?

Yeah, but it still prevents the beeping. All those VMU games sucked.

I can forgive Skies just because I'm not a big fan of turn-based combat, but Shenmue is pretty bad. I think we should shun you.

And now, after all these years, I can't find the game anywhere, when I've seen it for 12 bucks everywhere for years.

There is still time to repent. Shenmue only requires 3 CD-Rs and Shenmue 2 is like $10 online.
