You know, we really don’t know if that robot was supposed to be Metal Sonic, if it doesn’t, it a good design for a Saturn game…
But I guess Capcom would have sued them for coping Crashman design or something…

So, how do we know that isn't some sort of shitty fan pic? Because it sure looks like one.

That’s because Naka wined about the use of Nights engine, Sega of America has bought the rights to use it, but Naka threatened to leave Sega so…Naka won and they had to remove it. Without the Nights engine, they where back to the beginning and…
And where would SEGA be without Naka and his contributions to . . .
Waitaminute.
But yeah - Xtreme looked like crap. The only worthwhile thing it would've done was bring back Fang. But the characters, stages, art - everything looked like absolute shit to me. Boobowski?! I'd take Princess Sally over her. A Metal Sonic that doesn't even remotely resemble Sonic?
Ugh.

Actually I think I remember pictures of a fully polygonal Metal Sonic boss fight in Soinc X-treme that looked exactly like the version seen in Sonic CD except for the fact that it was twelve feet tall. It looked rediculous when seen next to the crappy Sonic sprite used as the main focal point onscreen, but it still sticks out in my mind as being the first time I had seen a polygonal Metal Sonic. I don't know where the hell that red thing came from. Or maybe I'm crazy.

The thing here was that the Polygonal Boss characters like Fang and Metal were 5 times bigger than the Sprite based Sonic.

The thing about Sonic X-Treme is that they only had like, what, 5 months to make it? So it's not to surprising things looked the way they did.

There are no pistons - pneumatic or hydraulic - in that picture. What are you guys talking about?

Maybe the fluid going through those tubes isn't gas or liquid, but electrons. They could just be cables.

Yeah, but that's not exciting. Don't you just get EXCITED when you hear the word pneumatic?!
