Shadow and Rush, Opinions and General Bitching

Speak your mind, or lack thereof. There may occasionally be on-topic discussions.

I feel I have to add another comment about Rush to this topic, because it's probably a feature that'll go ignored by most in the game. The tricks sytem, which is something most people would probably think is an idiotic addition, is fantastic in my opinion. It can be incredibly satisfying flying off jumps watching Sonic somersault everywhere as you hit combinations of the B, A and R button, charging up your Rush meter again so you can fly back into full speed the second you land.

For those who've yet to play it, make no mistake this is a new style of Sonic, it's what the Advance games attempted to be but failed horribly, it's speed that's actually fun. I appreciate this new style wont appeal to everyone, but to me it's one of the best things ever.

The only thing Dimps did better this time is the art direction. And the music. That's it.

I don't have much to say about Shadow TH. I haven't played the game yet, but I still plan to do it. Anyway, here's something that may sound obvious, but needs to be remembered:

"WTF spritecomics spawn of ebil!!!!111"
Just ignore the fact that it's a spritecomic and listen to the message.

Couldn't you have just brought that message to us yourself. I mean, it's not a particularly good message anyway. It's just some griping and broken logic and oh it makes me so sad.

That logic wasn't just broken, it's probably the worst logic ever constructed in the world.

It made me chuckle wryly, so I guess that would be classified as "pretty funny".

Agreed. Mostly because it contains the word "bollocks", though.

I'd listen to the message, Cara, but it's all wrong. Do you know how many bottomless pits there are in Sonic 3? About FIVE. IN THE WHOLE GAME. And they don't appear until ICE CAP ZONE.

Compare that with the recent Sonics. Even Sonic Adventure 1 had bottomless pits in the first stage.

Emerald Coast? You're traveling across islands surrounded by water, dude. It might not feel like there are as many bottomless pits, but the whole level is still surrounded by'em.

Really, Emerald Coast was surrounded by invisible walls. There were only a handful of places where you could actually jump far into the water and die.

Same basic deal with City Escape. The level was every bit as linear and restricted as the others, but it restricted you with walls instead of pits.

I'd like to see future levels that were more open and non-linear, but even if we just got more stages like those two I'd be reasonably happy. I don't mind if the levels are "on rails" so much as long as I can't fall off the edges. :P

Sonic CD had 3 pits, and that game had 70 levels!

It really, really didn't have 70 levels.

Seriously, I wasn't dissapointed by Sonic CD but I wasn't impressed either, Sonic 1 style graphics and the number of levels were the main causes.

I don't like CD at all to be honest. The level design just seems like a mess in my opinion, especially Wacky Workbench.

Remove Tidal Tempest, Wacky Workbench and Metallic Madness, and it's good to go.

I never got the huge deal about Sonic CD. It was decent, but why did everyone herald the time travel like a god? To me it was just out of place, and nothing more.
