Anyone picking up Rush?

Post by James McGeachie »

Living in Europe I still have another 3 days to wait until both this and Shadow are released, but I'm curious if many people here plan on picking up Rush today/tomorrow (will it be on the shelves today or just shipping?), or if Shadow's steaming pile of shit is going to be the only thing discussed.

I'm guessing there's a lot more current gen system owners here than those who have a DS, but surely some of you have to be more interested in a game that at the very least, is getting decent press, than something that's been damn near guaranteed to stink since day 1.

I am picking it up when it's out here in the UK. Purely for the music. And the gameplay. Maybe. But mainly for the "bangin' choons".

Unlike Shadow I do plan on buying Sonic Rush but not on release. I'll probably buy it at some point next month. My expectations have never been particularly high for Sonic Rush and none of the trailers have been that impresive but the reviews so far have been very positive so I'm willing to give it a chance.

Several reviews appearing now, with these and what I've seen from magazines so far, it's averaging a pretty solid 9/10 in general with most reviews finding it hard to find many negatives other than the rather predictable lack of replay value.

Hee hee, awesome. It's like the 16-BIT era all over again, with Sonic Rush and the New Super Mario Brothers, both for the Dual-Screen. Huge coincidence, no. Both of them are 2D platformers were the characters are 3D. Ah, the sweet scent of rebirth.

Ah, the sweet scent of rebirth.
As opposed to the sweet scent of afterbirth. :p

I'll be getting Sonic Rush as soon as people stop borrowing my DS.

I think I'll wait and ask for it for Christmas, I need to save up and get some other games instead.

Maybe, it does seem to have more potential then either Shadow or Sonic Riders at the moment, but I need a DS first off.

I think Riders has around as much potential actually, I'm fairly optimistic about it, the videos feel extremely f-zero like and that's definitely not a bad thing.

I just can't get excited about Rush. In 1992 I was playing Sonic 1 and 2 and they were great. In 1994 I was playing Sonic 3 & Knuckles and it was even better.

In 2005 why should I want to spend my money on what's inevitably going to be like-Sonic-1-and-2-but-nowhere-near-as-good?

Because it's pretty much as good as a Sonic game is ever going to get ever again.

'cause it's the closest any other game has gotten to the old Sonic games to date. And it's actually good.

So is Rush made by Dimps or Sonic Team or what?

Because IGN says Dimps and other sites say Sonic Team and none of them are particularly reliable.

Both Sonic Team and Dimps. Just like the advance games.

That's at least what people that has completed it is saying.

Well it seems from the early impressions I've read that the game still feels very much like a Sonic Advance title, which is a shame but it was to be expected, having the same development team and all. It does seem that people feel it's a lot more polished, refined and fun than the other Advance titles though, which is good... I guess.

Has anyone here actually played it yet?

I'm going to buy it tomorrow on the nationwide videogame retailer's GAME stores "10 Day Rental Policy", under the other name "Our Really Stupidly Lax Return System". If it sucks, I'll get my money back and spend it on something better.

I got it. It's the same as it was last time I played it though, so there's not much else I can tell you.
