Ivo?
I was just wondering...
I know that Eggman's American/European surname "Robotnik" is now official in Japan to, but has his firstname "Ivo" ever ben mentioned in anything official from SEGA of Japan? Lika a game manual or a strategy guide or something? Or is that name still only used here in the west?

Ivo has never been mentioned in Japan. In fact, the most recent Eggman profile on Sonic Channel states that the character's real name is unknown (Oddly enough, the Channel profile doesn't even mention the name Robotnik, even though the Sonic Advance 3 strategy guide listed it as Eggman's real name).

Back in my youth I took Dr. Ivo Robotnik as his full name and the whole Kintobor thing, even the story of how Sonic turned blue as canon. It was in books I read, comics (The UK's STC), TV... Even now after all those years of conditioning I can't get my head around the fact that none of it is actually canon.

Well, is a bit like how they rewrite Superman and Batman stories once in a while, you will end picking one and don’t caring about the others.PSMad wrote:Back in my youth I took Dr. Ivo Robotnik as his full name and the whole Kintobor thing, even the story of how Sonic turned blue as canon. A perfect example of how needlessly convoluted that comic became. Because it was based upon DiC's Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon his first name was already established as Julian, and there was never any transformation from a good scientist to an evil scientist.CM August wrote:In fact, the only other instance I can think of where the name Kintobor was used (and "Ivo" as well, for that matter) was in the Archie comic.
