I am indifferent to the subject of war.

I am a musician, not a politician.

I'm of French heritage and constantly get "lol teh french lose wars lol." Damn I'm sick of that garbage.

And that Freedom Fries thing... I know a redneck who refuses to call them anything else. It makes for funny scenes whenever he goes to McDonalds.

The blessing of the Vietnamese, or the Americans?

Strike one. I'm not from America.
Who was it who won the two World Wars again? Oh yeah, the Allied forces. I'm sure there was a couple French guys in there. Maybe a couple fucking thousand.

Seriously, why is it that (almost) every American smugly claims that the French "always lose their wars" or whatever? Is it like some massive plague of ignorance passed down through generations? Is it something in the water? Someone help me, here.
Maybe it's because they do lose their wars? Name me one war they've won that doesn't include the French Revolution (because technically - they lost that one as well)?

I'll give them World War I, but they didn't really earn it.

Edit: I'm not trying to insult any French people (not this time anyway), but history does them no favours.

The reason they haven't won any wars could be to do with the fact they're not stupid enough to start them.

You know, if you were going to pick any one country as the one that "won" the Second World War, the Soviets would be the most accurate choice. And as for WWI, it wasn't so much won by anyone as it was lost by Germany.

But who cares about thoes technicalities? Either way, the United States can still kick the shit out of other countries better than anyone else. And that's all that matters, right? Hahaha! France is dumb!

We lost the war of coolness against Britain in the 60's. I don't think we've ever recovered from that.

Oh, and technically, we had to withdraw from Vietnam.

Yes, yes, "withdraw." That sounds much better than lose.

Very true, Chris. Because of all the protest over on US soil, much of the focus during the war (which was undeclaired BTW, meaning that Congress couldn't support it with funds from their districts, it had to be all Fed money) was getting the troops out instead of actually fighting. Oh, and jungles also aren't easy to fight in, no matter how much firepower or money an army has. You have to be a native of a jungle in order to fight in it, unlike in Europe in WWI and WWII where an outside army could learn the roads very quickly.

Also, I never judge the French on their military tact. They have other things to make up for it, like food and culture.

EDIT: I missed the second page entirely, so my response is to Chris' comment on the bottom of the first page

What does starting wars have to do with winning them?

Generally speaking, people only start wars that they think they can win.

Wow... that made no sense.

Note that I am not defending that other guy you were replying to. But still... seriously. I can't get at what you are trying to say.
