Sonic celebrates Super Mario Bros.
Well tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. and Nintendo is not going to let it pass without any notice. They have put up a webshop at http://www.mario.tv/ where they will sell Mario swag (at the moment only some t-shirts) to the Mario fanboys. Apparently they trying to appeal to the Sonic fans too.

The only thing I know about this is that I love it.

The second screen is completely, totally, consummately, wholly redundant to the point of redundancy. I own a DS and almost 10 games now (including Kirby) and not one of them has usefully implemented the second screen.LOUD-TREE wrote:I-I ment the system as a whole. o_o;; And the DS screen isn't redundant; Play Kirby Canvas Curse.
I guess you missed the part where the PSP launch in the UK more than doubled the DS's launch in the same region. Or the part where the PS2 sold 80+ million systems.LOUD-TREE wrote:I guess the number of redundant screens it takes to outsell both the PS2 and PSP is two though.

Well, they're handhelds. I always buy new handhelds thinking "this time it's going to be different", and I always end up playing, like, one game on each (usually a launch puzzle game), then I toss them up on the shelf and ignore them until they're obsolete. I guess it's a good market for kids, but even with the new technology, I just can't take any of it seriously. There are a few things on both DS and PSP that I'd like to play, but I'd like to play them on a real console.
If we want to play system wars, though, I do honestly consider the PSP a superior piece of hardware. All the fruity interfaces on the DS achieve is to baffle developers who are more or less forced to utilize them... I don't doubt that there are two or three neat, as-yet undeveloped game possibilities that make genuine use of the extra screen, but as for the rest of the software library, we get distracting menu screens and confusing transitions. All in all, I think that R&D money would've been better spent on a single, large, higher quality screen... like the one on the PSP.
