Apparently the article says that development of the game has been halted for as of yet unknown reasons. JCE should be making an announcement about it next week.
Good riddance I say. Hopefully with this nonsense behind them Sega can get cracking with Shenmue III and then let the series end forever with its integrity intact.
The problem with making Shenmue III now is that for it to look good by today's-- or tomorrow's-- standards, they'd have to give it a lot of scrubbin'. And for me, that'd already distance it too much from the first two games, somehow... not that it'll ever be made anyway.
I've already decided that when I'm ridiculously wealthy and eccentric, my mindless pet project that I'm going to piddle my millions into will be the completion of the entire Shenmue saga. On Dreamcast hardware.
The good thing about excellent titles that flop is that they remain forever sacred.
Although, I heard somewhere that they had handed development to some Taiwanese company (aka programming sweatshops) for completion. Or something like that, don't know if that's at all reliable.
There's an alternate universe where Guardic Gaiden is the longest-running series in the industry with over 50 titles to its name, while oldschool gamers long for the members of what used to be Capcom (which has long since been dissolved and absorbed into Irem) to develop Mega Man 2.
Korean has little circles in it.
Chinese is rediculously complicated looking.
Japanese is less complicated looking.
Portugese looks like Spanish, with an alphabet similar to the English language's.
Now you know.
