Mickey Mouse has gone silent; Wayne Allwine dead at 62

It's sad but true. This hasn't hit the main news as of yet (But I'm sure it will soon), but Disney's own Legends site has confirmed that Allwine, voice of Mickey since 1983, died of diabetes complications on the 18th.

Furthermore, Disney VA April Winchell has also confirmed this and has written her thoughts on him:

Very sad news indeed. My thoughts go out to Russi Taylor (Voice of Minnie and Wayne's wife) during this time. Whoever takes over has some pretty big shoes to fill.

That's actually rather depressing and actually hit close to home a bit 'cuz I've been watching a crapload of Mickey shorts and Silly Symphonies lately and watched that interview with him and his wife, Russi Taylor, and he seemed like a nice fun-loving guy. I believe his first role was in Mickey's Christmas Carol, so I guess he's been voicing him for about 30 years.

When I was 3 I went through a phase where I wanted to watch Mickey's Christmas Carole everyday. I guess I owe my respects to a man who was indirectly a big part of my childhood.
