You're basically guiding a dot through a bunch of mazes while avoiding touching the walls. It's based on some Japanese game show or something. Beware though, it brings out the kind of frustration that makes you wanna take out sexual aggressions on My Size Barbies.

Plenty of games I'd recommend are already mentioned here. I'd also like to include Valkyrie Profile if you're looking for a Norse mythology-based RPG with platforming aspects, the first Vandal Hearts if you're into simple grid-based strategy, the Colony Wars series for high-classed space warfare and the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series (more so the sequel than the original) for its dark, modern-day setting.

The Colony Wars games do sound interesting, although I completely suck at large-scale strategy.

Y'know, it's funny that you say that, because a friend of mine has this really beautiful geisha doll that was given to him a while back, and for years, I'd threaten (only halfway jokingly) to rape it everytime I lost when we were playing versus games. Eventually he hid it and to this day he absolutely will not let me see it.

Hey, what about Intelligent Qube and Mr. Domino?

I have a friend who would not stop playing Intelligent Qube, he thought it was the best thing ever. I have no idea why. I may have been too stupid to appreciate it.

Intelligent Qube is an amazing game. I only ever got the chance to play the demo, but I played the damn thing so many times because I found it so enjoyable.

I'd love to get my hands on a full copy, but it's pretty hard to come by and thus very expensive.

Once I do get my own copy, I think I'll be able to die a happy ASSMAN.

I thought Colony Wars was a shooter?

Anyway, most of the great PS1 games have been mentioned already, but allow me to make my own suggestions:

If you like survival horror games, the original Silent Hill is a good choice, as is Resident Evil 2. Since the genre hasn't really changed much in terms of gameplay and controls (well, except for RE4), its just like playing a survival horror game on a modern console!

Oh, and Puzzle Fighter by Capcom. It's one of the most underrated, addictive puzzle games ever. I'd rank it just below Panel De Pon (Tetris Attack in the U.S.) and just above Puyo Puyo and Tetris if I had to make a list of the greatest puzzle games of all time.

I know I'm probably alone in my love of Rhapsody (the musical RPG by Nippon Ichi), but it's a decent game. The super-easy and simple gameplay is actually tolerable because the story is so insane and... well, the characters often break out into song and dance.

Oh, and the first 3 Crash Bandicoot games are pretty decent, if you like platformers. I still think he's a pretty boring character, but the gameplay is solid. You could probably pick up each game for pretty cheap too, if you can find them.

Oh. Yeah, it is. I just skimmed through a review and thought it was something else. It still sounds good, though.

I was wondering about Rhapsody, too. I've been doing some second-rate research on GameFAQs and stumbled across it. I always like the idea of an insane story and characters...but they never seem to translate well into video games, in my experience, anyway.

And Crash I was taking for granted. I can't really get a Playstation and not play the original Crash and Spyro.

I would only reconmend getting Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure

--if you can find priced at under $15

--if you have a high tolerance for abysmal dungeon design

--if you really do want to hear all of the songs(half of them are bad or you could find them enduring in a cheeseball way)

--if you are really desperate to collect all things Nippon Ichi

I, meanwhile, would only recommend bothering with Crash and Spyro if you've already got your hands on Ape Escape and Klonoa.

To narrow it down further, I'll tell you now that Crash 2 and Warped and the original Spyro are the only ones worth bothering with.

Agrees, but I'd also like to put in Crash Team Racing. I don't care what anyone saids, this game is freakin' addicting. I just bought Jak X, but I don't see it topping Naughty Dog's other racing game at all.

I'd also like to add in Tail Concerto and Guardian's Crusade as pretty fun games to play and charming.

Senbei wrote:FFT was actually the first game I bought, but it's also the one I've played the least. I enjoyed the Advance version, but the original, so far, lacks a compelling story, so I don't feel obligated to work through the currently boring battles. It also seems to be full of grammatical errors, and those always bug me.
WHY THE FUCK DO YOU CRAZY PEOPLE LIKE ADVANCE BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL ADVANCE WAS SHIT AND YOU SHOULD FEEL LIKE A SHELL OF A HUMAN BEING FOR LIKING IT YOU FUCKING FAGGOT

Oh, and by all accounts, Star Ocean 2 is excellent if you turn the sound off. Also, Vagrant Story and the first two Twisted Metals are worth looking into.

I've just been called a fucking faggot for the first time on this board, and by Baba, no less. Just a note.

I actually bought Vagrant Story recently, but I haven't gotten around to playing it, what with Metal Gear Solid having melded into my console and all.

Delphine called me a retard once

I've also gotten a chance to get my hands on Rhapsody, and, uh, it was an interesting experience, to say the least.

The frog princess part of the story was so sad, though. So very sad.

As ASSMAN, I feel that it is my duty to submit to the fine members of The GHZ that man ass isn't technically as ASS at all. It is not recommended that it be looked at for any longer than a few seconds, lest optical nerve damage take place.

However, if you like, say, get a dry erase marker or something, it is fairly simple to get around Vagrant Story's one glaring flaw. And it would be worth it 'cause the plot and the characters' of VS quite simply kick ASS.

Gameplay confused the shit out of me though.

I always felt as though I should've liked Star Ocean 2, but no matter how hard I tried to force it, I just couldn't get into it.

Oh yeah, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Tomba! yet. That game kicks ass. It's an adventure game where you play as... um, some guy named Tomba, and your main attack is jumping on the backs of enemies and biting them. Kinky.

Oh, and Parasite Eve isn't bad. It isn't that great either, but it's worth a play-through.
