You'd spend more time just pressing X than holding it down and mashing A anyway, so I still don't see the problem is.

Okay, so let's say that someone were to make this ideal 'Sonic' game (or any ideal game for that matter). This whole inane argument would be rendered moot since any great game worth its salt let's you map whatever function to whatever goddamn fucking button you want.

I just tried keeping pressed the X button and tapping A on my 360 controller. It's uncomfortable and makes me feel dumb. Although keeping pressed A and tapping X is much better, I refuse the idea of using anything but the A button to jump.[/trivialargument]

There must be something wrong with me then, because I feel perfectly fine when attempting it.
