Re: Sonic 2017
I wish they had used Green Hill Zone and not some generic city. Wouldn't it be neat if every zone was a destroyed/mechanized/eggified version of a classic zone? Then it really would be Generations 2, except instead of porting retro zones into 3D they'd be porting retro zones into 3D and ruining the...

Re: To Boldly Spindash
Hey, after 12 years of waiting, I had to find some way of getting more than 3 minutes of fun out of it.

Re: To Boldly Spindash
https://youtu.be/SYxkRSODwlw - There are 4 inputs: left/right (not 4 directions like the Museum says), shoot, change weapon, and turbo boost. - You can't cycle your weapons backward. Once you get to Punch, the change weapon button doesn't do anything. Taking damage will cycle you back by 1, but that...

Re: Hardware Mania
That sounds roughly the same as my 2007 laptop. I never bothered trying to run the Adventure games or Generations on there because I had access to a much stronger PC, but I remember having to turn the graphics down on just about any game made after 2001. It couldn't even handle Half-Life 2 on medium...

Re: To Boldly Spindash
I actually never counted Popcorn Machine as a game, though I do hope that gets found someday. Any appearance of the Tornado is noteworthy. Was this just recently discovered? Anyone reaching out to the owner?

Re: To Boldly Spindash
Must be on a Spanish site somewhere, though "Sonic Cosmo" still doesn't come up with anything on Google from the last 3 days. Even if you had it, though, you'd either have to compile the latest MAME source code yourself or wait until the 22nd for MAME v0.183 to come out. I can wait another 2 weeks, ...

Re: To Boldly Spindash
The Dumping Union. Right below the thread you linked to they posted a link to this video, which has several random handhelds that were successfully emulated on MAME last year, so I assume they dump those as well or are at least affiliated with someone who does.

Re: To Boldly Spindash
It's done! 12 long years ago, I came to this website on a quest . That quest was to beat every non-hack, non-beta Sonic game ever made (Sonic '06 became the cutoff point for obvious reasons). About a year earlier I had gotten into emulation and decided that it would be fun to play every game in one...

Re: Hardware Mania
Sonic titles tend to get Steam releases. All of the other games you named are already on Steam. Sonic Mania will probably end up there too, if you're willing to wait. Or buy a used console, play the games you want to, and sell it when you're done. You might even be able to find a way to rent one. I'...

Re: OH YES Sonic Mania
Mario in Station Square! Haha! That's exactly what I was thinking! Both the new BotW and Mario trailers blew me away. I haven't played a 3d Mario since Sunshine and I've been craving one. Mario in the real world is a weird idea, but not every world looks realistic . It's still whimsical enough to b...

Re: Possible Sonic Lego Dimensions Cross Over
It's honestly not that impressive as far as potential Lego sets go, but just seeing Hidden Palace Zone depicted in a game for the first time since S&K makes me gush.

Re: Possible Sonic Lego Dimensions Cross Over
Really? That's so odd. The Lego Starwars and DC hero games let you play as pretty much every model in the game, including random grunts. Do playable characters have a lot of dialog in Dimensions? Programatically it wouldn't have taken significant work; they could've just coded them all as clones of ...

Re: Revenge of the nerds
Oh, neat, I didn't notice that the trunks of the trees become visible in Launch Base 2. Given the distance, they appear to be pretty tall, with branches only near the top, just like the ones in Mushroom Hill. That does add some weight to the rock wall being related to Sandopolis, and I agree that it...

The forum lets you upload attachments with your posts, but Google has us covered for now. https://www.spriters-resource.com/resources/sheets/10/9947.png http://overloadr.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/launch-base-zone-sonic-3.png It does have sort of an Egyptian texture, but they look like mounta...

Re: OH YES Sonic Mania
Man, Dust Hill. Maybe we'll see a Genocide City reference somewhere. I was trying to come up with which Sonic CD levels I'd like to see come back, and there really aren't many. It would be either Wacky Workbench, assuming they could find a way to make the bouncy gimmick fun instead of annoying, Star...

Re: Revenge of the nerds
Yeah, they were created by Gerald, who was studying Chaos Emeralds and looking for a way to apply their infinite energy to living things. GUN was powering their robots with them, so it's entirely possible Eggman picked up a bomb powered by one on Prison Island or Ark. Given that they have gems insid...

Re: Revenge of the nerds
Guess we finally burned out. Oh well, maybe after Mania comes out we'll have more. I ran into someone today who tried to track the emeralds throughout Sonic 06. I remember this now. They were so careless with it that I wasn't even able to keep track while playing. So apparently the bad future is not...

Re: Revenge of the nerds
Good points about Launch Base. I'm with it. I've always know Angel Island must be bigger than it looks when we see it from afar (especially in SA1, where it's downright tiny), but now that you point all that out...it really is a huge piece of land! It's got at least 7 zones just on the surface, with...

Re: Revenge of the nerds
http://imageshack.com/a/img922/4743/rn7M3g.jpg Ok, I didn't notice that second pillared building. That fixes the perspective problem I was having between the map and the sprite and, indeed, puts the "bite" where you've got it. I think the building next to the Death Egg is actually Hidden Palace. It...

Re: Revenge of the nerds
You mean you don't remember? Spazz made a whole website dedicated to it!
Since Shadow's only had cameo roles since 06 they probably haven't given it any thought. If they ever make significant use of him again then he'll probably become whatever they need him to be.

Re: Revenge of the nerds
Tails has a yellow/orange emerald, which isn't seen elsewhere. I like to pretend that Tails' one is the fake and it acts as a device to harness the energy from the others to make the rocket ship work. But I think the developers just had 8 because there are 8 characters. http://www.theghz.com/forum/...

Re: Revenge of the nerds
So you've got the meteorites, then Eggman, then Hyper/Super Sonic. What is that strange arm underneath? I've always wondered that. Well, the Doomsday robot did have two arms. In one hand it's got the Master Emerald, showing that he's stolen it, and with the other hand he's preparing to fight Sonic....

Re: Revenge of the nerds
There was also an Heroes interview where Iizuka said that he had wanted to have a Casino Park like stage in the Adventure games but couldn't because of the story and so had to wait until Sonic Heroes. At the time, I didn’t understand what he meant by that, but viewed through the context of two worl...
