Re: Has Rouge been kept abreast of this?

But anyways, in the rich tradition of Dumpy Costumed Sonic Awkwardly Hanging Out in Group Shots, this ranks right up there with that one Michael Jackson pic. Just look at Iizuka here. Even he knows that things are terribly , hilariously wrong. Nah, I think Iizuka was just dazzled by the lights on s...

Re: Has Rouge been kept abreast of this?

I have to assume that Hooters' image in Japan must be somewhat different from here. Maybe they just see it as a cool American thing.

Re: Sonic 2017

Sort of tangential here, but this article about how they probably will never make a Sonic Adventure 3: https://www.polygon.com/2017/9/19/16333174/sonic-adventure-3-will-never-happen From the developer standpoint, every Sonic game that we’re making is taking new steps and advances, furthering the gam...

I don't think the forum will ever actually die unless we mount a campaign to destroy it for good.

Re: Genesis game recommendations

I've tried a few Valis games and didn't really care for any of them. Not even the SD one. It was a long time ago and I didn't really put that much time into them so I've never been sure if maybe they weren't all that good or if it was just me. And supposedly the PCE/TG16 versions are the best ones f...

Re: Genesis game recommendations

Dunno about rareness or necessarily re-releases (Gunstar Heroes has several) but I would consider: El Viento Gaiares Target Earth Beyond Oasis Crusader of Centy Trouble Shooter Castle of Illusion Re-releases definitely available: Shinobi 3 Revenge of Shinobi Ristar Dynamite Headdy if you have tons o...

Re: Sonic Mania - Game content discussion thread (with spoil

Is there any kind of mode where you can just play the Special Stages, like the stage selects in Sonic 1 and 2? You can go into debug mode and make all the big rings you want, but that feels dirty somehow. I wanna tackle them in sequence, like that Blue Spheres mode that I will never ever use.

Re: Get Over Here!; or, Swing, You Sinners!

*There are lots and lots of Batman and Spider-Man. Spider-Man for the C64 had commendable pendulum physics, as did Konami's Batman & Robin, but beyond that nothing noteworthy comes to mind. A few actually had the rope anchor to actual surfaces instead of some nebulous point off screen, which is som...

Re: Sonic Tricks (gifs!)

I always liked the push animation at the time, even if it didn't do anything, it was just cool that Sonic responded to being "pushed" against a wall or whatever. Vectorman was another game that had a specific "wall" action, but it was more like a cute idle animation that didn't always seem reflectiv...

Re: Sonic Tricks (gifs!)

The thing about the Mega Drive games is that monitor power-ups take a second to "kick in". (I've lost many a ring this way.) Silv's second .gif isn't a bug, it's just weird game logic. I think that was technically a crush, right? Even if rolling the spike ball can still crush Sonic at that position...

Oh, interesting. I tried it out, and yeah, you go right through them. Re: Sonic Tricks (gifs!)

I rolled into it so fast that Sonic was probably inside both the head and the segment behind it in the same frame, causing the d head to take damage at the same time the body hit Sonic.

Sonic Tricks (gifs!)

I posted a bunch of my favorite Sonic 1 show-off tricks to twitter but I thought I'd share them here, too. Feel free to post your own! Gently tilt your phone back and forth on the title screen. I'm not sure what the criteria is for the unlock but it happened pretty quickly for me.

Glad to hear you liked it. I didn't get all the achievements, or even all the crowns (still missing a few..)

To be fair I think Mario 3D World really brought it back with those clear pipes. Sliding through and leaping between pipes like a porpoise is what plumbers do, right?

Re: Nintendo Switch & Mario Adventure

But you did suss it out! But games back then had the luxury of being the only thing your childhood self could play for months on end, a weekend rental at the least. There are so many alternatives these days, often gratis*, kids can be feckless and move on to the next thing. Sonic has already become...

Re: Sonic 2017

Sonic R's loops require a specific camera angle, are wide enough to give you a lot of room to move around in, and of course, there's those tank-like controls. I love Sonic R but I don't think any of those were acceptable solutions for what they wanted to accomplish in Sonic Adventure.

They're really missing a chance here to make the new villain character be an evil, cooler-looking version of the player's created avatar. Imagine though! Sega makes an angsty "original character" based on your original character. How delicious.

Glad you're liking Punch Quest! I should probably mention Dandy Dungeon , as well, because I put a lot of time into that before sinking into a state of futility.
