Re: Interesting Sonic Team interviews

Not really an interview, or strictly Sonic Team, but this podcast has Spenser Nilsen talking about the US soundtrack for Sonic CD, how it came about, how they made it, some small bits of trivia here and there. Kind of a neat thing! http://www.vgmpire.com/2016/05/25/vgmpire-117-sonic-cd-with-spencer-...

Re: Run Away

It was a tweet saying the game would be gone on Monday. "We hope you enjoyed Sonic Runners!" I guess maybe they posted it by mistake? I bet an identical one will be automatically posted on the correct date. :) I was shocked to find that the official Sonic Runners twitter only had four tweets on it i...

Re: Run Away

It's very strange to me that a game as conceptually simple as an "infinite runner" could have so much complicated baggage around it that it would make sense to shut it down. I know part of the draw was the continually updating story content (have they continued to do that?) but it seems like they co...

Re: Your favorite SEGA franchises (excluding Sonic)

I guess I should elaborate on that one, then! The thing that I really like about Fantasy Zone is the pacing of it. You can go wherever you like, like Defender, and you can play it however you want but what ends up being the most effective way to do it is to rush in towards the big enemies (bases) an...

Re: Your favorite SEGA franchises (excluding Sonic)

I assume we're excluding other Sonic Team games, too, right? Virtual On (especially Oratorio Tangram) has the special distinction of being the only "fighting" game that I liked enough to get really good at, bought arcade sticks for, etc. I don't like what they've done with the more recent games (the...

Re: SegaSonic Popcorn shop dumped

http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=35221&st=210 I wonder where the source of him saying that is. I have to wonder, then, how much of what he shows on his tumblr is actually his? I guess we should be glad he's "allowed" to show screens and video of any of it at all. And yet for other ga...

Re: Sonic Mega Drive

They got sorta close to this with that Sonic 1 / Genesis Wave or whatever thing before. Which, now that I think of it, was for the 20th anniversary, and.. was that really five years ago? It was the last time I bought a Sonic comic so it seems more recent than that to me.. I think it's very important...

Re: GHZ Kickstarter Picks

Along with the NiGHTS interview over in the Interesting Sonic Team interviews thread, I just gotta plug Shmuplations again--as a fan of old Japanese games, the interviews this guy is translating are the things I seem to look forward to the most every month. If you back the Patreon, you get to vote (...

http://shmuplations.com/nights/ Another one from Shmuplations, this time on NiGHTS! It's a collection of smaller interviews that they did in a variety of magazines, but all together it gives an interesting look at the development and a lot of stuff that I didn't know, like originally wanting to make...

Re: SegaSonic Popcorn shop dumped

The impression I got was that it isn't a match-3 or anything like that, blocks of one color will disappear when surrounded by blocks of another color on the sides and bottom (but not the top, apparently). Some people are comparing it to Cleopatra Fortune, though I'm not sure that's entirely accurate...

Re: SegaSonic Popcorn shop dumped

I didn't have the desire for a more thorough search through all the results for a Japanese google search (ソニックブラザーズ--I recommend "in quotes" to reduce all the smash bros links..) but I did find the original tweet that image came from. Surprise! It's Yosuke Okunari, one of the guys behind the M2 3D C...

Re: SegaSonic Popcorn shop dumped

How do people know this song was related? In the CD's liner notes or something? Apparently this is the source for the info about Fukio Mitsuji and the location test. I guess all you have to do is google "SegaSonic Bros" in Japanese, maybe? https://twitter.com/bluparadox/status/695819376226934784 And...

Re: SegaSonic Popcorn shop dumped

Oh hey, another EGM reference, this time from issue 46 (I didn't remember this one but I do have the issue--TSSZ had the link): http://retrocdn.net/index.php?title=File%3AEGM_US_046.pdf&page=52 This one mentions two unreleased Sonic Arcade games, but I'd suspect that the second one is actually the S...

Re: SegaSonic Popcorn shop dumped

I think it looks cool! :> Another update on this: http://shoutime.tumblr.com/post/138735367028/sega-sonic-bros-ac-play-with-yourself-or The interesting detail here is that it was designed by Fukio Mitsuji, the designer of Bubble Bobble. But the question on my mind is how would someone who just happe...

Re: SegaSonic Popcorn shop dumped

So, apparently that same guy who dumped this rom is now teasing a prototype of the Sonic Arcade game called "Sega Sonic Bros," and featuring multiple colored Sonics: http://40.media.tumblr.com/321bbccd8a30fa1de9a2132de47fc577/tumblr_o20zg0bpae1rppy76o1_1280.jpg http://shoutime.tumblr.com/post/138666...

Re: Sonic 2016 Rumours

Ugh, Bugman, why would you even do that? I'm trying to imagine how disappointed I would be if they went so far as to make a new game with spot-on Sonic the Screen Saver-style artwork but the game itself was still hovering around the same quality and style as everything else they've done recently.

You made it! Yeah it was just a little bonus more than anything. I didn't think there'd be much competitive scoring for it and I think we'd already set up the scoreboards and stuff when I sprang that one on Daniel. I did a couple videos myself on Normal and Easy . I was going to do one on hard as we...

Re: Sonic 2016 Rumours

Do we know that Sega made them change it? Like you said you don't disagree with the decision, but it seems reasonable to me that someone at Disney could have easily decided on their own that maybe "slightly more flowing and hair-like" was actually grotesque and horrible.
