Re: On the topic of animated fat men...

Why on earth did your mom block King of the Hill? Out of all these shows, it's the last one I would have expected! She was not a fan of Hank's father, Cotton Hill. (His debut episode is the reason we were not allowed to watch the show anymore.) I don't think I saw another full episode after that fo...

Re: On the topic of animated fat men...

I love all of Futurama except the direct to DVD movies and the first half of season 6. I love the characters, the jokes, the outer-space setting; even the cameos are done pretty well. Plus there's actual continuity, a thing unheard of in most American animation, much less prime-rime animation. It's ...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh

You read Penny Arcade? You never really striked me as the type to really read webcomics. I would never have the patience to sit through a 3-page review no matter how good it was. I find this kind of ironic, considering some of your earlier game reviews on the forum, such as Star Ocean Til The End of...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh

In my case with anime reviews, because of a policy enforced 15 years ago that even the head administrators of the site cannot break out of. In any other case, because people are lazy and only look at the shiny numbers. It's unfortunate, but it's long been accepted the norm. (Leonard Maltin is the on...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh

Absolutely nothing, but so is saying you liked something. A paragraph about how much you like a movie that doesn't use a star rating is far less useful than a two/three-page review of it that would otherwise use a star rating that explains in greater why you do. I fail to see how this is up to debat...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh

Well if you want a consensus, there's only two answers: I liked it or I didn't like it. Thumbs up or thumbs down. One or two. There's no objective way to quantify anything inbetween. What's a 7? I sort of kind of liked it? Versus an 8, I kind of almost really liked it? Is there a formula for this I...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh

Being a writer of anime reviews for a web site (which I won't post a link to, as to adhere to the rules), I wish at times that I myself was not limited to the oppressive 1-5 scale on there, or the 1-10 scale on MyAnimeList. (Though you can choose on the latter to leave blank numbers.) With that said...

I do like now that turning Super Sonic doesn't affect the in-game level music. I forget if anyone brought that up earlier in this topic.

Bad sound quality, unskippable time warp, clear water in Tidal Tempest, Special Stages go twice as fast as normal..and the U.S. soundtrack, too.

Crazy Penguin wrote:So what did they change Classic Eggman's "Nobody calls me that any more" line to in Japanese?
Well, in the Japanese version of the scene before that line, Classic Tails says "There are two Dr. Eggmans?!", not that he's Dr. Robotnik. Classic Eggman kind of just replies that he is Eggman.

Re: Dumbest animal in Japan

Nintendo's self-published Wii manuals/back covers are typically in multiple languages in the U.S.. The Nintendo DS U.S. games are still mainly in English, at least up to a year or so ago. Don't own a 3DS, so I have no idea what they do for them. The only Sonic game's U.S. manual I've ever seen that ...

Re: Sonic Generations

I'll admit it - after Sonic Heroes, I kind of fazed out of Sonic games for a looooong time after. I never touched Shadow the Hedgehog, I only played the demo of Sonic 06 and never the actual game, and I never bought Sonic Rush Adventure after I played (and sold) Sonic Rush. I've bought 5 Sonic games...

When he stepped down, I thought he would bounce back later. That sadly came not to be.

As an owner of an iPod, as well as using Mac computers for the past 11 years, his death makes me cry on the inside.

Re: Sonic Generations

I'm hoping it's Sega's meddling, because if Takashi Iizuka is the reason for it, then I don't know what to think.

I kind of like the new look of Sky Sanctuary on the 360/PS3 version. I thought the original level was kind of dull.

Looks like another Dimps Sonic game I'll avoid, if they can't even get something as simple as classic Sonic not using homing attacks correct. (The Mushroom Hill music mix-up was another factor.) Man, what do Sega see in these guys?

Well, I really hope we don't get another Kirby adventure 3... Kirby's Adventure was awesome. What are you talking about? Return to Dreamdland looks fantastic. It'll be the first time since Kirby 64 I buy a new Kirby game. I'm also glad the new super abilities seem to have a fixed usage, like the Mi...

Re: Sonic 4 Episode 2 Not to Come until 2012

I like the graphics and music quite a bit in Chaotix. Too bad the actual game, like gr4yJ4Y said, falls apart as soon as you actually play it.

I actually didn't care much for the Special Stages. It's way too easy to fall off to your death due to the cheap design at times, and the angles are jerky.

Then I suppose you remember this error screen, huh?

I never had this happen to me on my own PS1, but it kind of scared me the first time I saw it on youtube.

Re: I am probably going to die

I barely got hit here in Philly. No power outages or anything. Though a relative in New Jersey has lost his power on and off for the last couple of days, and one of my aunts and uncles lost power completely (the latter having two kids: a two-year old and a new-born. Ouch).

Also, anyone agree that the Dreamcast may be the loudest of all the consoles. I'll agree to this. Every time I turned on my Dreamcast, I had to turn the sound down on my T.V. You have no idea how many times the start-up screen made me jump up in regards to how loud it was. Is it bad that I seem to ...

The only ones I didn't get were Amiga CD32, PlayStation 3, and PSP. I actually knew the CD-i, Jaguar, and Master System start-up sounds thanks to videos on YouTube I saw months beforehand, even though I never owned those systems. I thought the Jaguar was the Super NES for a minute due to the last fe...

Re: Sonic 4 Episode 2 Not to Come until 2012

Dimps would have to re-build the engine from scratch, as well as throw in Tails, in order for Episode 2 to be worth my money. Aside from maybe the graphics at times, I can't think of anything next to say about the first episode. Hopefully a year-and-a-half (or perhaps two) pause between episodes wil...

Pretty much. Aside from Jun Senoue, I don't think anyone else from early 90's era Sonic is still working on the games.

That looked more like a trailer for Sucker Punch than a Batman film. Hopefully the later trailers will be more interesting.
