How can you compare these shots exactly? They're not even remotely similar. I mean if you're talking about the grass textures and what not I mean obviously they're going to look a lot better in a massively zoomed out shot showing the whole area than up close. I don't get your "world art" complaint ...

Also, for some reason, they've decided to include a sort of dating sim. You control Elisa like a normal character. However, depending on how you play through the levels, you'll meet different characters. You then get these training sessions where you can learn one the characters ablities. Apparentl...

Yep. It looks exactly like the Sonic 2 level select, but with the Sonic and Kunckles levels selectable.

This was when I was like, 13, mind you. Anyway, I sent it off. A couple months later I recieved a response; but this response was different. It came in a normal letter, but it was thick. Rather than a single page response, there was obviously more to this letter. I ripped it open and what I found a...

Never have i had such an incredible desire to quit. At the end of each game, the focus is to make sure the player doesn't stand a chance. Enemy hit boxes are tiny, they make sure there's no extra lives or health packs, there are endless pits everywhere, normal enemies can attack you 10 times in the...

Didn't his beaten butt fall in Angel Island along with his Death Egg? True, but dead characters always come back from the dead in this series (Eggman, Shadow, Metal Sonic, and by the sound of it, Knuckles ). But taking Sonic 2 as an individual entity, Eggman did die with his Death Egg. CONTROVERSY ...

Sonic is not F-zero. Kinda is. Play a genesis-era game. The entire gameplay is just bombing it in a straight line and jumping on platforms. Emerald Coast mixed closed in tunnels surrounded by natural barriers with wide, open beaches. It didn't matter that you could run a long way off course to the ...

A brief word on the whole "bottomless pit" thing... It was unavoidable. In the 2D games, you only ever played on the XY plane, but in 3D, there's the Z axis. How do you stop the player from just running sideways into infinity? Barriers would be crap, natural barriers (e.g. trees and cliffs) would ma...

NEW GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE!! http://www.xboxyde.com/news_2974_en.html Random thoughts: - Psi-Ops the Hedgehog has the dubious honour of the first next-gen pit-death! ;) - The collision detection on the Sonic level seems REALLY forgiving (which can only be a good thing). There's a moment when Sonic deliber...

Uh, what are you all getting so upset about? In all the journalist previews, it says pretty plainly that Sonic and white-Sonic are the only playable characters in the game. Just because Shadow is in a promotional picture, it doesn't mean he's actually playable in the game. Why was I stupid enough to...

James McGeachie's kind of got a point, I take back what I said about taking back what I said about the graphics. It doesn't look bad, but some screenshots look better than others. THIS equals "Best game ever"! THIS doesn't. The difference is that Sonic 2 and Sonic CD do have merits beyond the new fe...

Re: Final thoughts on Shadow the hedgehog (game)

Well, ShTH has been hanging around long enough, was there anything you liked? Lots of stuff. I mean if it weren't for the fact that the graphics suck and Shadow is the star and there are guns in it, lots more people would have loved it. Stuff I liked: - The soundtrack. - The cutscenes (why doesn't ...

Do you all want the game to fail that much? Well piss your pants with joy if it does for all I care. Find whatever reason you can to dismiss this game. If none of you want the series back to its former glory, then what is the point? There are no new characters in sight, no treasure hunting, fishing...

Anyone else noticed how low-key this all is? There are hardly any screenshots on the Internet, and the only available recent Sonic next-gen media/info is in blurry magazine scans. I bought Riders a couple of weeks ago, and it's pretty decent. It's got all the same problems that all the 3D Sonics have (crappy graphics, bottomless pits, voice acting, cut scenes that make you wish the in-game graphics looked better), but it got a lot right. The game feels really fast, and pullin...
