Re: Software is for pussies.

Started Gravity Daze. Structurally it actually reminds me alot of Infamous - a decent-sized open world full of absolutely nothing interesting that you parkour through to get to trigger points around the map. The overworld is a mind-bendingly complex labyrinth of a city that looks like City of Lost C...

I actually tried that with plain Cheerios once and it just kind of ended up poofing off into the milk. It did not make me like plain Cheerios.

Re: Dinsey's Wreck-It Ralph: A love-letter to videogames

The premise is kind of neat and I've been keeping my eye on it on that merit alone, but I don't have any special faith in the Disney animation studio and nothing that's been shown so far looks too spectacular. "Wreck-it-Ralph" sure the hell does sound exactly like it would've been an 80's coin-op, t...

Re: Software is for pussies.

No, at least not on a national level and not game-specific. The biggest game retailers like Book-Off and Geo carry (and generally specialize in) other merchandise. Geo (pronounced gay-o, incidentally), where I buy most of my games, actually rents movies as their main business (there is no such monke...

Re: Sweet Wheat & Sucrose Oats

So I opened up a box of (Double Chocolate) Krave today. Hm. If by "double" they mean "half-assed traces of a heavily processed something that may at one point have originated from some portion of a cocoa bean", then it is a very good description. Imagine eating hay with a spoonfull of Nesquick. For ...

Re: Sweet Wheat & Sucrose Oats

Oh shit yeah, I got a couple boxes of that too, but I haven't tried it yet. Actually just a few weeks ago when my cereal meter was getting dangerously low and desperation was setting in, I bought a box of what I think was a Swiss version of the same cereal from the import food shop. I paid over 700 ...

Aka Gibbon's Cereal Sticky Thread! :PY: :PY: :PY: http://www.theghz.com/gibbon/frostedtoastcrunch.jpg It's always a nice surprise to open up a care package and pull out a box of something I've never heard of. I'm actually not sure what this is supposed to taste like. "Frosted" as it applies to cerea...

Re: Software is for pussies.

I've been trying to remove my profile from Minna to Issho so I stop getting a dozen goddamn friend requests a day from people I've never met, and as much as I flip through the menus, I can't figure out how to access the memory card or save data files. There's a thing called "data management" that ca...

Re: PS3 recommendations

Is Vanquish all that? I played the demo and didn't really like it, though I kind of respected what it was trying to do, or at least what I think it was trying to do, which was to kind of merge the bulky American aesthetic shooting schtick that's all the rage these days with a more fluid, off-the-wal...

Hard to make an argument for that when the entire second-hand market, GameStop's primary business, is basically stealing.

Re: Incredibly mundane technical question, ver.2

I was working at LameStop at the time and I remember people coming in selling off their entire Dreamcast collections while proudly proclaiming that they could get them all for free. This was almost a daily thing. I remember recommending Dreamcast games and hearing, "Ah, no thanks. I can download tho...

Re: Incredibly mundane technical question, ver.2

Can you burn a Dreamcast game on a normal CD or DVD? They were in a special format, weren't they? Anyway, regarding Kega Fusion, it is definitely an emulation issue because it happens with almost every game. Exact same timing problem every time, about 3/4 of a second - just enough to be really annoy...

This is getting to be a problem, I've deleted a few of these over the past couple of days and I assume I'm not the only one. How do you change the verification question? I think we need something a bit more complex than simple arithmetic.

Re: Incredibly mundane technical question, ver.2

Not that I think anyone here has any special concern about my quest to play Cosmic Fantasy Stories, BUT. I thought it might've been a bad dump (most of the ones floating around the internet are TOSEC dumps, which are reputedly not always accurate), so I found a Redump.org dump (which are reputedly a...

I'm not going to miss the Wiimote at all.
Is it going anywhere? To my understanding, the Wii U is meant to use the same controller for motion control, which is extremely disappointing after Sony and Microsoft have both - well, made it work, basically. Wii Motion Plus is a mess.

Re: Incredibly mundane technical question, ver.2

If anyone wants to try it themselves, you can get the ISO here: http://planetemu.net/index.php?section=roms&dat=707 I'm playing it on Fusion 3.64. One other thing I should mention - when I run it from the ISO+WAV set, the sound comes in about 2 seconds after the picture. When I run it from the BIN+C...

Re: Incredibly mundane technical question, ver.2

First of all, ISOs shouldn't need one. Really? I tried loading the ISO and BIN directly, but there's no sound at all when I do that. Even if it is an emulation issue, why would it read the game differently when I load it from ISO+WAV than when I load it from a BIN extracted from the same ISO+WAV se...

Incredibly mundane technical question, ver.2

I have I think almost all of the Sega-CD/Mega-CD games in ISO+WAV format, which unless I'm mistaken should be completely lossless. When I play some games in Kega Fusion, though (like Cosmic Fantasy Stories), the sound synching is completely off. Is this a problem with the CUE file? I mounted the ima...

A boy & his blob is alright, too. I actually saw that in a bargain bin at Target when I was in Hawaii for like $8 or something. I finally got an American Wii to play DK Country Returns, but as long as I've got the thing, I'm wondering what else is out there I should pick up. I want to try the Bit Trip games definitely, but is there anything else I should try? Only American games, I mean. How's Punch Out?

Yeah, but Cookie Crisp is not as good as it used to be back when it was made by Ralston. Still good, but it is an altogether different entity. (Sprinkles Cookie Crisp is pretty badass, though, if it's still around.) Also, Reese's Puffs are better than Peanut Butter Crunch. Though I am known to indis...

No, that would be Corn Pops. French Toast Crunch... doesn't really taste like french toast, but it does taste like awesome.

Yeah, but I hate spending money on food because food is transient. You eat it and you poop it and it's gone.
