I'll eat up just about anything made my Omar Cornut. Although beat-'em-ups aren't really my thing, as I generally find them tedious.
It is a relief, at any rate, that it's not yet another rasterpunk game.

Re: Everybody Super Sonic failing... (Team Sonic Racing)
That's true of most of the iconic IPs. Bowser gets way too much exposure even if he's the best Mario villain. It's clear the only reason Wart and Tatanga exist is because their respective games weren't even Mario games at one point; Donkey Kong and Foreman Spike exist only because the predate Bowser...

Re: Everybody Super Sonic failing... (Team Sonic Racing)
I'm actually kind of hoping it's not, even if in all likelihood is. A good adventure series ought to have more than just one recurring villain -- imagine Batman fought only the Joker -- and this one shows more promise than Infinite and the Deadly Six, which are as low as bars get. ...Not that I'll b...

Re: Everybody Super Sonic failing... (Team Sonic Racing)
Uh, pretty much most of Sonic's characters never had a name change, or even a translations; they're mostly transliterations of English words even in their home country. Except, come to think of it, all(?) of Eggman's badniks had Japanese-derived names, probably for ease of intuition. Fair point on O...

Re: Everybody Super Sonic failing... (Team Sonic Racing)
"Dodonpa," eh? Sounds Japanese. In any case, this'd be the first Sonic character since Dr. Fukorokov (and I guess the Battle Kukku as whole, sorta) to not have an English-derived name? I guess he's a tanuki, but his muzzle reminds me of a tamarin. At least he's not a half-assed modification of anoth...

Re: Everything old is Neo again
Magical Drop III is good Puzzle Bobble alternative, at least in esteem. I'm not as well versed in action puzzlers as I'd like on account they're best experienced with human opponents; likewise one-on-one fighters, so the Neo Geo is more or less a wash for me as a system. I've heard convincing testim...

Addendum to the above: Vector Pinball has grown on me quite a bit. It's a spartan pinball simulator, but one with satisfying ball physics running at a near-infallible 60fps. Additionally, it's genuinely free, 5.4mb, and has no hidden traffic or permissions. My only criticism is it has no online lead...

I dunno, after spending 800 trillion of 'em on an empty paper grocery bag from the Chao black market, they kinda lost their appeal.

Re: James Marsden taking lead role in Sonic the Hedgehog mov
It does make me wonder what 1981 could be an allusion to, if anything. It's not a particular banner year for Sega, their most notable game being Frogger, which is technically Konami. The elevation suggests it was chosen at random, unless 3445 has some obscure meaning. Imagine that they where* or tha...

Re: James Marsden taking lead role in Sonic the Hedgehog mov
Movie tie-in games aren't really a thing done anymore, are they? I mean, substantial non-piecemeal console games? Imagine that they where or that this materialized back when. Imagine the possibility that it turned out like the Spiderman 2 game. Sure it'd be mired in a contemptible source material no...

I don't think that's a distinction with much difference, really. A character's defining color can be its clothing, too.

Re: Brothers from another motherboard
Yes, you are definitely correct that Red and Yellow are lazy. I just don't find it as odious as you do on account most of the big properties did recolors early on before working out more distinct supporting cast (though Tails might actually predate both Yellow and Ray?). Remember: Luigi was nothing ...

What I heard is it's the seller threatening to blacklist Shou from the trader circle. Because rare game collectors are possessive types who think wild ROM images will devalue their "investments," and their authentic copies will last forever and not bitrot into worthless silicon garbage.

Re: Brothers from another motherboard
It reminds me quite a bit of Namco's Pac-Attack, which itself was a rebranding of their prior Cosmo Gang the Puzzle released two years before this. Not as inspired as I'd have thought from the director of Bubble Bobble. It does look decent enough for what it is. https://twitter.com/insanedavid/statu...

Re: Sonic 1 for Nintendo Switch
Oh don't get me wrong. Customizability is very much appreciated. In fact they needn't be added via secret code like they are in the remasters. That is, however, so long as the new(er) elements aren't on by default. Codes are also oddly something that must be done to play as closely to the originals ...

Re: Sonic 1 for Nintendo Switch
Is this version 16:9? The more time goes on the more ambivalent I am towards remasters in general. It does vary from case to case what is and isn't an acceptable change, such as the altering of aspect ratio. In old side-scrollers enemies' and sometimes hazards/obstacles' behaviorisms are contingent ...
