Re: So that's what those things are called

I'd like to play Fez but then I'd have to unpack my Xbox and that pretty much tells you all you need to know about me and video games today.

Re: So that's what those things are called

It's kind of the opposite of Journey, which explained none of its mechanics but allowed you to decode them naturally. It was part of the joyous spirit of discovery, and all that bollocks. Superbrothers is just baffling, and infuriating. I don't like that ironic hipster writing style, either. Its cla...

Re: So that's what those things are called

I've only played the first two chapters, but there's a part a little bit ahead of you that had me gnashing my teeth with frustration in a way I haven't for years (at least not with a game). You have to drag something around with the mouse, but no matter how I did it, it'd just pop back to the origin...

Re: So that's what those things are called

Check out Superbrothers EP for beautiful pixel art for its own sake without appeal to nostalgia or irony-'retro' sensibilities. And also if you like fucking annoying puzzle mechanics.

Re: jet set radio coming to xbla psn

I agree on every count. None of those three tracks are essential, and I probably wouldn't miss their exclusion. The only real loss here is the Seoul tracks.

Re:

The US songs were Dragula - Rob Zombie Slow - Professional Murder Music Just Got Wicked - Cold Patrol Knob - Mixmaster Mike Improvise - Jurassic 5 The PAL version (the one I played back in the day) had the latter three songs but none of the metal, thankfully. Were there any PAL-only songs?

Re: jet set radio coming to xbla psn

Man, I didn't realise Up Set Attack (by Seoul) wasn't Naganuma. It sounds exactly like his stuff. So what's missing? -All of the extra songs from the US and UK versions of the game What were these songs? I think the only real way to recover from that kind of blow is to commission some new songs from...

Re: Who left all these propane tanks lying around anyway?

I did actually play it on my 3DTV, but no matter how many options I fiddled with, the damn thing refused to display in 3D. So, uh.

Re: Who left all these propane tanks lying around anyway?

I liked Uncharted 3, but U2 is better. U3 seems rushed (or maybe it suffered from having that zombie apocalypse game being developed simultaneously). No, the story is not going to come together. It is a sloppy mess and characters just disappear, unused. The final act is just a repeat of U2's. A lot ...

Journey

Soon after I arrived in Tokyo I befriended a waitress named Yuki. I'd been to her cafe a few times before, so Yuki had had the chance to scope me out from a distance - in telling this story later she mimed a pair of binoculars - and she deduced that I was probably not a threat. I was working on my l...

Re: Samurai Pizza Cats Coming to DVD. All Of It.

The very mention of SPC - even the acronym - takes me back to 90s GHZ. It was one of several mysterious oft-mentioned Japanimations I had no conception of, like Lunar. (Or was that an RPG?)

Quick! Someone post a Sonic R review. Praise the transparency effects.

Re: Massive tsunami hits Japan (JARED MATTE MEMORIAL THREAD,

The safest response to an earthquake is to simply wobble yourself and any valued items/property in the opposite direction of each tremor. In this way, no effect is perceived.

No, I see a disturbing number of online opinions these days claiming that HL2 is a weaker effort. It's not that controversial to think so, it's just really fucking stupid.

Re: PS3 recommendations

Seconding the Dead Space games, though both are far from perfect... if you like RE4 and Aliens you'll enjoy them (at least until the repetitive level design sinks in). Portal 1 and 2 are two of only a very few games I believe are absolutely unmissable, essential, play-or-die games released in the la...
